How dangerous is old ammo?
« on: November 24, 2008, 06:30:25 PM »
My Great Aunt just stopped by and gave my Nana the ashes of my Great Uncle along with some of his personal belongings. Inside a box were old rounds and I'm curious if anyone knows how dangerous they might be, because I honestly don't want to drop them and lose a toe or something.

I have an old bullet my grandpa let me have when he was driving me to school one day.  This would have been like grade two.  He said I could have it as long as I didn't try and set it off with a hammer.  So at recess I was showing it off and the teacher took it away and was very upset at me.  I got it back the next day.  Fuck grade 2 sucked.

I also got some old medals and police badges. Oh and I have a letter from President Truman! Is any of this shit worth money?

That's cool.  What's it about?  Might be forth something if it's a love letter to your grandpa.

You have bullets from a very common weapon during the Korean War.

Probably not that much.  If it's a tracer round though, it's illegal.

To answer the OP:
Very dangerous, if you put it in an old gun and fire it.

Put it up high where no kids can touch it, preferably a fireplace

What, why?
Oh and it's just a casing. there was a 7mm round stuck inside of it.
I"ve heard it before that they're illegal and I think that's because they can set a car on fire if they hit the gas tank.
