Surviving without the Internet for more than 24 hours
« on: November 25, 2008, 10:04:37 AM »
Is it possible? Is it even humane? These are the questions that will be asked and not answered 'till a brave service technician from Comcast fixes my high-speed Internet sometime tomorrow between 2 PM and 5 PM.

So far, life without Internet has been awful. A horrible existence that I can only imagine is similar to the tortuous ordeal John McCain has gone through the last half century.

I IM'd EricP that I would brave the sunlight and make for the town market that the kids call "the mall". Its been months since I've been to one and even longer for personal purchases. Its a cesspool of Twilight-loving tweens and desperate housewives.

I will keep a record of my travels.

Pray for my soul, evilbore.

Willco out.

Wilco is going to be scratching his (single-player) Left4Dead impressions on a tree, telling the squirrels what he bought today.

He's going to be like one of those dirty poors, hanging out at the library all day glomming some internet access.

I'd drink a bunch and play through some RPGs / single-player games, or go out and drink with people. Either one.

A couple months ago I canceled the landline and DSL to go with a cable modem cause it would save me monies.  The problem?  There was like 3 or 4 days in between the cancellation and the installation!  I was fine for a day or two, but midway through the second day I went to the library to fuck around for an hour or two on the 'tubes.  Couldn't help myself.  Fortunately it was a very clean, modern library with no urban outdoorsmen.

Its actually quite liberating, Federman! I moved back east a few months ago, and I had a period of 3 weeks where all my shit (computer included) had been shipped east while I remained out west. After a day or two I found I stopped really caring.

Man today has felt like a hundred years because of eb being down.  I got so bored, after masturbating 10 times that I actually got some latin done.  Now my penis hurts and my head hurts.  Fucking Wilco.

It's boring as fuck.  Sometimes I just want to dick around at home but without the internet I realize how little there is for me to do.  Even worse is when I need to look up something - I'll have to call someone else and have them do it for me :(

It hard enough not getting onto evilbore for the last hour or so, and then to top that off, my hockey video stream wasn't working.

I may have cried a bit.

Comcast tech came at EXACTLY 2 PM (he was scheduled from 2 - 5 PM) and I arrived home 2:10 PM. No way to get another tech out 'till next week.

As a result, I had the craziest night ever, which I'll write in detail when my laptop connects to the Interwebs.

Also, to pass the time Tuesday, I rented awful comedies off Comcast HD. We're talking Zohan, folks.

I'm at work now, and they've gotten internet. My days may be slightly less mind-numbing. Retail, why did I return to thee?
