Well, at least with bosses you can come in with near full SP because you  an start on their floors.  My problem with Mitsuo is that I am using big SP abilities and I am a bit underleveled, so I needed a mid-fight SP boost.  I had one of the items that gives you 50 SP, but that wasn't near enough.  I basically needed one character to get his SP back, and the soma (which is rare and fives full HP/SP to everyone) was really my only option.

I also make sure I check every chest on every floor and all.  I really wish they sold even a half decent SP item in the store.

the only option is to buy soda cans but the machines get sold out real fast and you have a week of waiting needed before they get filled up again... and the cans only give you back either 5 or 10 SP

And 5 and 10 SP really isn't even worthwhile unless you can chug 20 of them outside of battle.  I'm talking about needing SP mid-battle when a mere 5 SP point heal would be a waste of time.

The TV is probably trying to upconvert the resolution of the game to the native one of the HDTV (and doing horribly). Do you have a PS3? That may fare better at upconverting the game.

No PS3. I'm just dealing with it. Guess I could just be used to games looking much more crisp this generation...

Matsuo is so busting my balls right now. I dont' know how one would beat him without the exact technique of spamming Mind Charge and some high level spell. I also need one of companions to learn a fucking healing spell that isn't light, Yuikiko, your worthless!

The Mitsuo fight is honestly probably the toughest one in the game, at least in my opinion.  Forge a personality that is immune to darkness for the latter half of the fight so he doesn't one shot your mc.  I used my soma mid battle with no regrets, I finished the game with like 3 and didn't need to use one for the last boss.  I didn't bother with the true ending, maybe one day.

I think I'll do that. I like using Chie but I think Teddie could probably fill her spot better.

Thanks guys. I didn't think to use Teddie, but his healing ability helped a lot during that boss battle (got through it).

Just caught myself a Guardian Fish. Not only can you exchange this fish for kickass gear (varying, each month) it also can completely replenish one characters SP :o

Got this off Gamefaqs, helped a lot

Quote
NAME )
( Timing, vibration strength )

INABA TROUT
1 second, medium

RED GOLDFISH
1-1.5 seconds, light

AMBER SEEMA
1.5 seconds, light

GENJI AYU
2 seconds, medium

HUGE FISH
2 seconds, heavy

GUARDIAN
4 seconds, very heavy

Huge Fish and Guardians can only be fished for on Rainy Days (and supposedly everyday during December). I'm about to exchange it for a piece of Armor that gives you 50% more EXP :o

I was worried that discerning between the Guardian and Huge fish would be hard but hell no, when you've hooked a Guardian fish, you'll know.

Be sure to save one Huge Fish and one Guardian for the final quest of the Fox S.Link.  Maxing out Fox is super helpful in later dungeons if you need to grind.

I'm just now starting to dig P3.  The story takes ages to get off the ground. And I'm definitely missing direct control over my teammates. Even the AI in P4 is WAY better than the AI in P3. In P4 my teammates ALWAYs exploited the enemy weaknesses once I'd uncovered it. P3 not so much. The combat in P4 is SOOOO much better than P3.

I did the exact same thing and thought I would miss the September rare equipment (you need to get to the last Fox quest to get the better fishing gear). Fortunately, if you make it your priority to finish the Fox S.Link before the end of September, you'll be able to do it (there's also a rainy day a few days before October, so you can catch a Guardian). It'll probably be a good idea to catch a Huge Fish or two before you reach this point though. Dexterity helps with fishing, the higher Dexterity you have, the more chances you have at catching fish. I believe you need one Huge Fish and one Guardian to completely finish this S.Link.

I didn't realize until really late in the game that you can fish at night... after the game sends you back to the Dojima residence, you can go out the front door and go fishing or to your job at the hospital (if you've taken the job).  This would have saved me many after school times I wasted fishing.

Its simple once you get the timing down. But higher Dexterity helps to be able to get a few attempts. I also believe there's a Quest at #6 or #7 on Fox's S.Link that's going to require you to fish for a Goldfish (I think its called).

 :omg  :-[

Mitsuo was such a fucking pain, even with an optimal setup, he had the ability to wipe me out with his "omg I'm about to die" skills. Bosses that have the ability to weaken you then use an ability to exploit said weakness within the same turn are freakin cheap.

But about the Midnight Nurse, she's a freak-a-leak  :teehee I love how she responds positively to you being at odds with her

Yeah, I am fairly sure that beating Mitsuo is possible at my level (heck, I almost beat him my first try, and I've had 2 grinding nights since then), but there's a bit of luck involved.  It's just a crapshoot long fight, and it will always be a long slog since he tends to kill you just before he's almost dead.

Mitsuo was a long grind.  I can't remember if it was him who had the Evil Smile followed by Ghastly Wail attack.  I think I had an accessory that prevented Fear.  That was a must.  There's another miniboss in the last dungeon that does that combo as well.

That was a 5 alarm toilet tantrum.  I completely emptied myself and there was plenty o bile, too.  My throat is burning bad.  The vomit was hitting the water so hard that the toilet water was splashing all over my face.  And since I had just been masturbating, I imagined myself puking all over BlueTsunami's cock.

Kanji is handled a lot better than the queer boy in Persona 3 FES... I just started the social link in P3 with the foreign exchange student from France.  His name is Bebe.  He speaks with a French accent and carries a fan with butterflies on it.  You spend all your S.Link time with him in the Fashion club that meets in the Home Ec room.

No.  P3 FES is the original game with bonus content, including a whole new separate quest (that blows, apparently).  There's also a new S.Link (the chick in the Velvet Room) and about 25 new personae.  And they change the quiz answers in class to make the old strat guide unreliable.

Everyone I've heard talk about it hasn't liked it.  The new character sucks, annoying VA, it's just a dungeon slog, no socializing, stupid difficult.  I think there was something else about the general mechanics that sounded lame, too, but I forget.

the answer sucks. even though i liked p3 i couldn't stand it.

also, the good ending path seems to be great in p4. though i haven't gotten to it yet, i was wondering what would be left after the normal ending and read about it. my mind was blown just by knowing a bit of it, though i guess that might be the best part about the good ending itself.

It's kind of lame that you have to go through the whole dungeon again to fight the bonus boss... I guess it's a good way to get Kanji up to par, though. Also becoming increasingly frustrated by the linear structure of the day-to-day sim stuff, like how you can't entirely focus on maxing out any one single relationship. Any tips for that?

Even menial tasks take up a whole day, and yeah it is annoying at first. You'll eventually just live with it and once various S.Links and Stats are raised you don't worry about it anymore. Also, New Game+ carries over stats (Courage, Dexterity, Knowledge.. etc) so on the second pass you should be able to max out all S.Links.
