Christmas Shopping :/
« on: December 14, 2008, 09:44:55 PM »
I don't have a long list of people to shop for, but I just have no idea what to get any of them. What the crap, I hate shopping for gifts. (I also don't care to receive them, so at least I'm fair about it.) It always ends up a variation on the same thing every year anyway, because it's not like anyone actually needs anything. Same goes for birthdays, too.

I usually end up buying books, DVDs, or a combination of the two. So...yeah.

I love getting gifts for people, but the actual shopping part sucks hairy donkey balls if it's busy.  So I try to finish by the end of November.

I halfway thought about getting my parents a Blu-Ray player or something, but then I thought they'd never use it. They don't have many DVDs as it is, and many that they do have I bought for them. I joked with them today while visiting for lunch about buying them a Wii and Wii Fit. (Not happening.)

Then there's my brother / sister-in-law / niece to consider. No idea there, either.

Getting something for my two-year-old nephew is the most trouble I'm having.  The kid has WAY too many goddamn toys -- he inherited my embarrassingly huge collection, all the proof of my childhood spoilage, on top of the already ridiculous amount he's received so far -- so I'd like to get him something useful that isn't primary colored and plastic.

I was thinking of opening a savings account in his name (with a few hundred to start with) so the rest of my relatives can start dumping money on him rather than adding to the junk pile.

If I were a two-year-old and I got a savings account for Christmas, I'd be pissed. Just sayin'.

It's a good idea, and I doubt he'll ever remember / care.

If I know my mother, he's already gonna be swimming in a pile of toys anyway.

I'm finished shopping for everyone except Ecro. It's an awesome feeling.

I love Christmas shopping, except for people like my dad. I always end up getting him a tie or a shirt because he's so hard to buy for.

The only Christmas shopping I've got done so far is my secret santa (going out tomorrow), my sister and my father in law.  This week though we're doing the rest.  Goodbye to $$$$.   :(

I hate Christmas Shopping. Even more so this year since I'm more hands on since I now that I know Santa isn't real. Which might I say is a pretty fucking shitty thing to do. 12 years of hearing "be good or Santa will put you on the naughty list" then one day you're at the dentist and your mother says, "Ryan, he isn't real"

Unlike the Tooth Fairy or the Easter Bunny, Santa was pretty logical. Although I had a feeling around seven that elves were just metaphors for manufacturers. Which I guess still works if you consider Santa Claus a metaphor for retail chains, since alot of young children like to believe toys and shit are just given to them for free.

Anyway, I have like 4 more things(A spider-man, a guitar,a book on how to play a guitar, and I think a chair) to buy and then it's mostly stocking stuffers which I can get at a dollar store or something. Yay for cheap, crudely made toys! I wanted to buy Rock Band 2 since it's only $100 and I'd get a $25 gift card, but I decided against it. Hopefully I'll still have enough left over to get myself a Sansa Fuze.

Then whatever money I receive will be pumped into my pride and joy, the Xbox 360.

On the plus side: After Christmas, I have my brothers birthday. Expect him to get things that I want.

 :wtf

If you're shopping for adults that drink... any place that sells decent liquor can solve all of your problems.  I recommend BevMo.
