The Name of this Band is Talking Heads reissue has a great live recording.  I love those discs.

Bowie songs are generally much better if you ignore the lyrics.  He really wasn't ever that good at that part.

He can make lyrics that sound vaguely intelligent and significant without coming off as super pretentious or precious, which is good enough.

My uncle's a recovering alcoholic. His addiction to alcohol was substantial and life-consuming.

He quit drinking, and became an AA member. His devotion to AA is substantial and life-consuming. He talks about AA with a level of energy that's distracting and harmful.

He's just an addict, a compulsive pursuer of things, to the exclusion of healthy pursuits.
