You can't middle click??

I got my first one in the mail yesterday and thought it was defective when I couldn't use the middle click. I instantly assumed it was a mechanical defect because clicking the scroll wheel feels kinda funky (the kind of feeling that would make one think it's broken). I installed the logitech software hoping to remap buttons so I could make left button + right button = middle click, but the option wasn't there. In my desperation, I put in a replacement order on amazon.

I get the replacement this morning and I was filled with excitement. I hook it up and quickly press the middle click button with this whole "i'll show you now, defective unit" attitude. Much to my dismay, I find that this one also has that funky feel when you press the middle scroll wheel. Now, I was sure I couldn't get two defective units in a row so I looked into it. Apparently the middle scroll wheel can only be used to change from "frictionless" to normal scroll speeds.

NO MIDDLE CLICK? NO WAY TO REMAP THE BUTTONS TO DO A MIDDLE CLICK? WHAT THE FUCK!!!!!

Review = 0/0 stars. When tabbed browsing becomes difficult is when I realize the terrorists really won and the recession is really a depression.

Now I have two non-defective units.

you can either close the logitech mouse manager software to regain middle click and lose the cool scroll features, or you can get the cracked version of the software that lets you remap anything. I'm trying to remember the name of it, so hopefully someone else can before I do.

The dinky magnifying-glass button below the scroll wheel does the middle-clicking on mine.

yeah, I just remapped the middle mouse to the silver button near the scroll wheel. I don't know if the VX has that or not since I have the MX Revolution, which had the same basic problem.

I don't get how you people open tabs or reload

5 mouse buttons should be the bare minimum. my mouse has 2 wheels and 7 buttons

So do you non middle clickers know that you can middle click a url to open it in a new tab and middle click a tab to close it? I don't think I could do without it.

After I discovered middle clicking, I don't think I could go back either. Of course, I'm a guy who knows/uses absolutely no keyboard shortcuts.

right-click, move 10 pixels to "open new tab", left-click = less annoying than middle-clicking for me

i hate middle-clicking more than waggle
