Should I be concerned (computer room temp)
« on: January 25, 2009, 12:43:46 PM »
The heat in my house went out on friday night; by saturday morning it was about 47 degrees in the house, and this morning it was 33 degrees (lowest temp). DTE energy came out earlier and fixed the burner, and now the house is slowly heating up.

I've noticed when everynow and then the mouse cursor moves quite slowly (like it's lagging or something). The cpu is at 54 degrees which is the highest it's ever been iirc. Must be the fans, but they seem to be running fine. I'm going to check them out in a minute, but I just wanted to get some info from you guys first

K I cleaned the fans a bit, and moved them around (mainly the cpu). On reboot I noticed the mouse was lagging a bit, but now now it's fine. cpu temp is stable at 33.

I dunno guys, I have a shitty feeling and hope it's not fucked. I first realized something might be wrong around 2am when I was trying to watch Lost. The video was quite laggy, like it was barely buffered or something. Seems to be working now

edit: mouse started to lag again

edit: WoW isn't working. Load screen takes forever, and the one time I got into the game the screen froze.

I turned the computer off a few hours ago, before I left the house. Got back not long ago and the mouse is still sluggish at times, and the computer takes awhile to come on; the Windows loading screen lasted 4-6 minutes instead of 2-3. Hulu videos work fine with no hiccups, and abc video player seems to be working as well.

WoW seems sluggish, with the fps rising and falling oddly. It froze for a few seconds everynow and then as well

My old computer was always at around 55. Nothing to worry about.

Played some WoW for an hour. At one point the cursor got real sluggish, and I noticed my fps was jumping in Dalaran (big city full of people). Outside of that it was fine

Watched an episode of Lost with the quality a bit sluggish but not bad. I'll post an update in the morning, when I turn the computer back on

You shouldn't be having any problems unless your PC got cold enough to develop condensation and then you turned it on.  Obviously you didn't have that problem, because your PC would have shorted out if that had happened.

You may want to open everything up and reseat your processor and ram and cards if you're paranoid, but the symptoms you're describing don't lead me to believe that that will help.
