Shit I didn't even notice that. The only music I remember in DR was the bad ass metal tracks that played during psycho fights, the funny hip hop song that played during the convict fight, and the ambient mall music. This game even fucked up the sound design. Christ.

its still amazing to me that Capcom developed this internally, but felt like farming out Dead Rising 2. It took Capcom's top men to uglylify, decolorize, and distinguished mentally-challenged fellow one of their own games. Crikey.

Seriously, what were they thinking. A ps2 could somewhat approximate an ugly dead rising game. But let's limit ourselves to the RE4 engine and shut down the compelling aspects of a zombie infested mall.

I'm starting to think developers make this kind of failware to justify their lack of commitment to a platform when the investors come a-callin.

edit: Watched a few more vids... the zombie count wasn't as miniscule as I thought. But the controls look horrendous. :/

Always hilarious.

They really should have gone for zombies in the style of the ganados from RE4, however. Sure, it would have changed the game further, but that would make the lower numbers more acceptable. Classic zombies only really work when there are huge numbers of them. If
they were more threatening, the lower numbers would be more acceptable.

It also seems that far fewer items can be used by the player in this version. When you'd walk into a store in the 360 version you'd see those little usage prompts all over the place.

It's still ugly as sin, though.

It also looks like the size of the environments and how many weapons are on the ground is reduced.

I think one of the main reasons that they went with a mall theme in DR was that there were going to be lots of zombies on screen and so there needed to also be lots of weapons on screen. Instead of this spin-off, they should have just made a direct sequel to RE4 where you play Leon. And has co-op or waggle or something new.

I don't think it's a question of numbers alone so much as numbers plus interaction. There were plenty of PS2 games with lots of characters on screen, but the collision detection, animation, and general interaction was simplistic as hell. For Dead Rising to work well, you have to have more complex interactions and I don't think the Wii could handle that with a large number even if they were to further reduce detail levels.

80k isn't exactly lighting up the charts. And the Wii version only has sales from the first day, it's a safe bet that it'll sell more than 6,000 overall.

Heck, even Excite Truck looks better than 90% of the Wii games on the market right now.

Even when they try the results don't match up to a good looking Xbox1 game. It's laughably sad how the Wii has worse graphics than arguably all 3 consoles last gen. Wii graphics remind me of PSP games most of the time.

While the Wii is "more powerful" than the Xbox, the average Xbox game is more technically impressive than the average Wii game and the average Xbox developer was much more serious about making technically impressive games than the average Wii developer.

The best looking Wii games are probably Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3. But I don't know if they look better than an average Xbox game. They're definitely polished, though.

I was buying it for Zelda but also the potential for an interesting system. I liked the idea of wii and honestly, the hype got to me.

was conker 60 fps? still looks amazing today.

I've heard people (on B3D) say that wii is more powerful than xbox but it's harder to get out the power because it doesn't have certain shaders or whatever. I don't know. Rogue Squadron 3 is the most technically impressive game that the wii can play I think and that looks better to me than any xbox game (outside of the foot missions). It's sad that Factor 5 can't make a Wii exclusive so that we can get a good benchmark to judge other games against.
