Yeah, the novelty of it all wore off. I remember how much I loved it in Brand New Colony or the Pac-Man theme in Mope, but whenever I hear chiptunes now, I just roll my eyes. Unless its done subtly and actually adds something to the song. But stuff like I Fight Dragons just doesn't interest me. I guess seeing tons of chiptunes bands at PAX last year really turned me off.

I would give it another listen. Its definitely more understated than her previous albums and the theme of surreal housewife stuff does seem a bit droll at first but I really began to appreciate it after multiple listens. And its the type of album that really ebbs and flows well within the album.

Been listening to the new Metronomy album "The English Riviera" and Brakesbrakesbrakes' "The Beatific Visions". Not really sold on the Metronomy one yet, although I really like the single.
