Watch the Throne is about that you'd expect: Jay-Z's continual downfall mixed with Kanye's self-circle jerk, but the production is for the most part quite stellar and it has a pretty strong lyrical presence. So basically, the bad of both Kanye and Jay-Z mixed with both of their strengths.

Album isn't bad. The production is damn good overall, and there are a couple great tracks. The problem is that the production drowns out everything due to the mix. For an album being billed as a tag team of the two biggest ~~black~~ rappers in the world yet they seem small and sometimes irrelevant on the tracks. Jay-Z sounds tired and out of his element on many tracks; Lift Off sounds like Hov fell into the deep end of the pool. On a few tracks he does kill shit though, like New Day and the flurry of shots he sends to Beanie Sigel on Why I Love You. Damn I feel bad for Beans

Overall it's a vapid, often catchy soundtrack of pop music in 2011. Great production, tack on lyrics.

also the bonus tracks are beyond dope. The Joy was released last year and I still get a smile on my face whenever I hear it; Pete Rock cotdamn. And No I.D.'s Primetime is crazy, plus features Jay's best verse.

HOB is better, but I'm very happy with Thursday. There's just enough different about it that it doesn't seem like a retread, and the production is still totally solid. I miss the lyrical emphasis of HOB a bit, though it strikes me that it may have been a conscious decision to move away from that and be more production-focused.

Not really. 2pac created shit tons of tracks for his albums, and the ones that were chosen for albums were a mixture of mainstream tracks, typical 2pac records, and "for the ladies" shit. A lot of the Makaveli session tracks that were scrapped are better than some of the stuff that got on that album (Just Like Daddy, White Manz World)

Then there are the tracks he did with the intention of being released after his death. Yeah, those aren't too good overall. Plus there are the various songs that were pieced together with random verses (the shit Eminem threw together for instance).
