Gemcraft came out last year and pretty much destroyed all others. Simple, familiar gameplay but added depth with skill trees, achievements and experience points. Probably one of the best flash/casual games of the year.

Well, the sequel is even better. Old strategies do not work anymore. Traps, sacrificing gems to unblock restrictions or add enhancements are now included. A wider, more varied skill tree (that you can reset and reallocate at will) and 7 game modes per map. Multiple paths per map and the old strategy of creating a massive attack at chokepoints does not work any more. You have to use all the tricks at your disposal to beat the modes. The difficulty overall is ratcheted up a few notches. 10 hours in and I am just getting past the first guardian.
