The little "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelBOOP" sound when you save is the best sound effect in gaming.

action + mild shmup elements + sim city.  i mean wow

the action segments are tough as hell too.  like old school castlevania, though maybe even harder.

I loved Actraiser...until it was rolling crush'd by my love of SoulBlazer/Blader. I also really dug on the Dark Cloud games.  :-\

The 'create/rebuild' ARPG needs to make a comeback.

Whoops, I guess using lightning on pissed off villagers doesn't really solve their problems.   the side scroller sections are starting to get pretty tough (I'm on the desert world now.)

Yeah, it's pretty nice. Would've liked to see SE/Quintet expand the concept.

Illusion of Gaia > Soulblazer

I think most people agree. It didn't really gel with me though. Not really sure why.

damn, I was excited that soul blazer was also a sim city/side-scrolling kinda game.  I guess Actraiser really is one of a kind.

Does the sequel at least live up to Actraiser 1's side-scrolling segments?

I never played it but I heard Actraiser 2 was rubbish.  Not sure if that's in relation to Actraiser 1 (in which case most things are rubbish), or just generally.

Great game at inflating your ego. Loved seeing the little aryan twins bowing and scraping to my Majesty.

It almost got me back in the day.  I think I had bought a game just before it came out or something, so I had to rent it.

I remember some magazine totally hyping it up prerelease. EGM? NP? Who knows.
