I just acquired Arcanum

Right off the bat, I love the Steampunk setting and Victorian style portraits. Ogres piloting early planes, taking down a zeppelin.  :o The Battle system feels fucking weird though.

I've only been using the realtime system and it feels like its trying to be Diablo. I should probably get familiar with the other versions.

The battle system in arcanum has always been bad from memory, but the game itself has always made up for that with it's awesome open-endedness up-par with the first two fallout games and steampunk setting.
I really need to play the game again, but my copy broke. :'(

The Battle System isn't has bad to me anymore, now that I've nearly mastered Melee and have it at Expert (Expert takes away the bad lighting penalty to hit accuracy for any Melee weapon).

This game is fucking awesome. The incentive to be a thief character is very high (was able to steal one of the best non-schematic weapons fairly early in the quest). There enemies in this game are also greatly varied. The schematics system is great too (I'm decided to become proficient in bomb making). Flash Grenades are actually useful.
