I just thought it was a genuinely powerful moment. It might just be because I'm somewhat deranged, but I totally bought into the whole "baby" thing, and I thought the whole concept of a mother using the trust of the baby to kill the baby was pretty disturbing. The movie failed in plenty other ways, but I also think people are too quick to disregard the genuinely cool scenes (the above mentioned scene may or may not belong in that category). The dude being told that there is something in him and the later chest burst scene, that was hardcore all the way through.
