Starting to play Hard Corps: Uprising again. I used to be able to beat this game with 1 death at most, but in my first run I had to continue 5 or 6 times. :lol I think I'll just play casually until I relearn the solutions to everything, and then I'll start going for another 1-life clear with Sayuri and Bahamut.

Still an amazing game. One of the best run and guns ever.

space marine has multiplayer? like, team deathmatch n such?

Yeah, but it isn't substantial in any way shape or form. I think they released an update for it since I last picked it up though.

I've also been playing Space Marine. Except I don't follow any of the Warhammer stuff at all so its all just incoherent hilarity to me.

ULTRA marines who are SPACE KNIGHTS who still use their SPACE SWORDS to kill SPACE ORKS?  :lol

It would help if they bothered to explain the plot at all or even what I'm doing but it seems they've cribbed storytelling techniques from Gears of War as well.

I played ~10 minutes of a few games yesterday just to get them running because that steam start up redist shit is annoying when I actually want to play:

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit starts with an unskippable tutorial on how to use the gotdamn menu.  shit's ridiculous.  the game looks great and it's fun in free drive.

Alan Wake American Nightmare
runs great with everything maxed (~50 fps when I opened fraps).  The arcade mode is pretty fun.  The 360 gamepad controls are as excellent as they were on the 360 and this is a rare case where I prefer to play with it.

Trine 2
saved my demo progress and automatically unlocked 5 trophies and 3 levels.  cool.

Ys Origin I've played before, but this Steam version has true wide screen.  good stuff.

Alice Madness Returns
has nice hair physics.  You have a triple jump.

Dear Esther
I ended up playing this 60 more than 10 minutes.  Definitely not a game but still enjoyable.  Very nice looking and sounding.  It all comes together by the end nicely.

Ys Origins is my first Ys game ever and I LOVE IT. I miss arpgs.

I've also been playing Jamestown and The Binding of Isaac. Both good games. I wish I knew from the start that Isaac was kinda like a rouguelike. I would've been more careful.

Stuff like that drives me crazy. Burnout Paradise had the same thing, although I don't recall it being as bad. Just LET ME PLAY.

it took me to 10 minutes to get from loading up NFS: HP to actually playing it between the shitty logging in to EA servers, forgetting my pw, forcing to me reset my pw, using gmail cellphone code so I can log in to my gmail account to retrieve said email, changing my actual password, logging into NFS: HP EA servers, and finally having to sit through that awful tutorial.

And the game isn't that great anyways.

Started playing wipeout 2048 (my first wipeout) today. I'm usually not too big on racing games, but really enjoying this. Just beat the first part of the campaign and found it kinda challenging but still fun and doable for a newbie like me.

Disgaea 3 just came in today. Got it cheap off of ebay. Not sure if I want to dedicate a lot of hours to this.

Got Persona 4 Arena.  Brief impressions after a few hours of messing around, mostly-online:

-I'm not normally one to talk about this, but wow- this game has some great presentation.  It really keeps the feel of the recent Persona games and has some familiar P3/P4 music on the menu screen.

-Lesson mode is a great tutorial for new players and there is ZERO load time going from one lesson to the next!

-There's not as much going on when playing on certain stages, but P4 Arena is easily Arc's best-looking 2D fighter to date- beautiful, clean sprites and bright, detailed backgrounds.  I love the P4 main character's theme music, too.  Wish more stage BGMs had vocals!

-Still not too sure what to make of the game play just yet.  It almost feels too simplistic at times, especially compared to BlazBlue.  It's fun, but it also feels too "easy" when you can just press the light attack button and watch your character do an auto-combo-into-super automatically if you have the meter available.  But there's plenty of game play features and obviously if this game didn't have real depth, it wouldn't be so popular in J-arcades.

-That said, I think this game is going to be much, much easier for people to get into than some of the other Arc fighting games.  Most of the characters' moves are also just quarter-circle motions and charge moves...nothing really more complex than that.

-I've only played against Japanese players online, so that's left me kind of locked into playing ranked matches-- almost every player match room was set to not accept lower-bar connections and everyone shows up with 0 bars, as I'm sure I show to them.  Most of the matches I've played have been on the same level as BlazBlue and Arcana Heart 3...very, very good connection quality, and again that's with the connection bar showing as ZERO!  There's no pre-fight sync-slowdown that I'm seeing though...you pretty much know right away if the connection quality is going to be good or not.

-Arcade mode has some brief story and dialogue sequences between the characters.  Tried Story Mode briefly and it really feels like a different game.  Very much like a visual novel...if it's true that this mode has 30-40 hours of content,  I can definitely see it appealing to non-fighting game playing Persona 4 fans.  It really is a direct-sequel to P4, taking place two months later.  I'm staying away from this mode until I play P4 on Vita.

And this guy is my favorite character:

Teddie is just fun as hell to play as!

gave the trial version of 'Wreckateer' a go. Absolutely dreadful.

It's basically Angry Birds 3d with kinect controls and offensively stereotypical medieval trappings.

Popped into Gotham City Imposters which I picked up for $5 during the steam sale.  Lots of fun to be matched against level 40+ players in deathmatch.  It's like a "wacky" version of TF2.

That's sad. Wreckateer was the only Summer of Arcade title which interested me enough to buy. THPS looks good, but I've played it before. Oh, I guess I'm still interested in Hybrid, but as an online-multiplayer-focused XBLA game, I fear it will be a ghost town.

Keep a save game before the end of Chapter 1, because there's a choice right at the end that gives you greatest divergence in the plot. Also, you'll probably want to do the tutorial before you start the actual game, that really helps understand how things work with the combat.

Chaos Rings on the iPad. The Elephant boss gave me some problems had to grind 2 levels. Gotta say if somebody just looked at CR pics before release he could be fooled it's a full fledged jRPG like Final Fantasy where you go visit various places in your main quest. However it's not. Basically you have a 3 room Hub and 4 very, very short dungeons that look like outdoor areas. It's very deceiving. The 2d backgrounds give a STRONG FF8 nostalgia flashback but they serve no purpouse. They could be all steel corridors ala FF13 for all I care. There is no sense of exploration in this game, none. Even Dissidia did it better. I am very skeptical about buying CR Omega and CR2 now.

You forgot the fact it's the only good JRPG on iOS platform. Stupid fuck.

Well it has been getting good reviews and the controls seemed sound. Just not my kind of thing. I just played through the tutorial level and knew it wasn't a game for me. The presentation just really irked me, I cant stand generic cartoony medieval stuff. If it was the same game with an intense presentation like Dark Souls or something I probably would have liked it  :P

Kids will love it I'm sure! Thing is presentation that I don't like can make or break a game for me. An example is Dishwasher Dead Samurai, the mechanics were cool but the art was so horrendous it made the game unplayable for me.

Yeah I jumped on and gained about 10 levels last night. Found a list of all the titles and made a note of a few i'm missing, so going to work towards some of those today. Still never got Gold Fire Bottles/Dynamite/Explosive Rifle so may get cracking on them... game is still as fun as ever.

I read that GTAIV doesnt have triple XP weekends as the matches are player hosted, where in RDR they are on Rockstars servers, so they can just turn on the XP bonuses.

Handy guide here: http://reddead.wikia.com/wiki/Titles

I could get all of them If I got to work, but one of the Poker ones involves getting a Royal Flush, which statistically is insanely rare

I finally have a good bit of free time and have also been playing Red Dead Redemption. I'm glad I gave it a chance, especially after how disappointed I was with GTA 4. I haven't touched the multiplayer at all yet though.

I also picked up Crusader Kings 2 on Amazon for cheap. But the font size not scaling with my resolution is absolutely brutal on my eyes.

I swapped to Android shortly after Chaos Rings came out, but I enjoyed the fuck out of it. There was a LOT of room for improvement, but to me it took the idea of a JRPG and made it extremely accessible in bite sized chunks between meetings or on commutes. There's really a lot to do for an iOS game as well.

No clue what CR Omega / 2 are like.

Started playing Quantum Conundrum. It's okay so far. I've only played it for about an hour, so far I've only gotten to use the Fluffy and Heavy abilities, and none of the puzzles have been hard, but I'm sure it ramps up. Best part of it has been John DeLancie in the GlaDOS role.

I played some Need for Speed: Shift 2

I'm liking it. They have a really unique cockpit gimmick where your view is recessed back into the helmet (you can see the edges of it), DOF is applied to the car around you when you go really fast, take tight turns, and do generally awesome stuff with your car, it also does this odd thing where the camera will point and turn into turns as to focus on them. it's like you're using track-ir except automatic.

It definitely takes some time to get used to but IMO, it's awesome. I love all those kind of immersion gimmicks applied to games like these.  It's how I always play them. If the game has a cockpit view I will immediately enable it, and also disable all HUD elements as well.

The racing feels pretty good on top of that as well. It's different than something like DIRT which is faster and cars feel lighter. In Shift 2 cars feel really heavy and you def feel like your barely keeping control as you throw them around a track. It doesnt feel too simy though so it's approachable but you still takes skill.

My problem so far however is just how the game and races are structured. They throw a lot of random races at you and I don't really feel like I'm moving towards something. Also, there's a car upgrade system that doesnt seem to fit. You basically buy the most expensive upgrade for each category. I did this for my Lancer X and when I got enough to do a full kit upgrade I then found out the car became ineligible for a lot of the races I had been using it for. That was really lame...

So just for the racing and the immersion gimmick I'm digging this.

still playing Persona and Ass Creed 2.  I was hoping to put more time into AC2 over the weekend but got involved in some other shit instead.

While at Otakon, I played Typing of the Dead - made it to the final stage on one credit which was pretty awesome. Also played the PS3 Miku game (amazing), Skullgirls (moves a bit too slow for me), and a bunch of fighters I've already played.

Yeah, I don't know enough about poker to even try for that kind of stuff. I only have 10-hit-combo-in-advanced-co-op and pa-pa-pa-poker-ace Cheevos to go on that, and I'm fine with never getting them.

Thanks for the info about triple-XP weekends. Sad that it doesn't happen; I can't grind through enough time to make that seem like a worthwhile activity.

I finally have a good bit of free time and have also been playing Red Dead Redemption. I'm glad I gave it a chance, especially after how disappointed I was with GTA 4. I haven't touched the multiplayer at all yet though.
I can't BELIEVE how much multi I played in that game. Totally worth it. It's not just a better singleplayer game than GTA4, but the multi is better balanced and engaging. It doesn't let players choose every detail of gameplay, but how often do you want a random lobby host to be choosing all the parameters for your gaming experience?

arkham city is all kinds of awesome.  My only problem in is in new game plus (and in the main mode) getting told that I 'can't worry' about something now.  If I see a door or a console to hack let me do it regardless of what is happening in the story.
