man i can't believe i forgot this existed! :o
yes it's just a collection of bad minigames like the one you would find on the wii (some of them even involve the sixaxis to truly emulate the wii bad minigame collection experience) but it's a game with toro in english! and it's so adorable

i always had a fixation with the little guy since seeing him as part of a sony promotion bundled together with FF7 chocobo, ape escape monkeys and parappa... didn't he have a pocket station game too?

Playing through RE 4 at the moment. Haven't played it in a long long time.

What a master class example of game design and terrific game pacing.

Was gonna play the 360 version soon, myself.

RE4 isn't nostalgia though.  It's one of those games where the core mechanics and level design hold up throughout the ages.

I like older games. The fact that I'm older alone and have been gaming my entire life means I like older games.

The reason you may perceive that is that generally speaking I'm not one of those guys who have overt nostalgia for japanese gaming, indie gaming, and a series being very popular with the masses isn't a turn off to me.

I've always loved the Resident Evil series. It was my favorite franchise in gaming until RE 5 & RE 6 sort of ruined things. And RE 4 is an amazingly crafted game. As was RE 2 back in its day.

So the GBASP is OK but the smudge is annoying. Whatevs. I went to a local retro game store and bought a DSI and I'm playing it on there.

Forgot how streamlined this game is. It's like they absolutely perfected the gameplay side of things but decided to pull back a bit on the world design.

Zero Mission iterates on the level design, so get hype for that. I still really love Fusion though. The way it gets rid of the resource-farming that plagued the older games is brilliant, and I think Other M does an even better job of solving that problem.

i finished that toro game, there is even a bowling minigame that's pretty much wii sports bowling except it's controlled with sixaxis waggling instead of wiimote waggling and it's super unwieldy :lol

there is a lot of variety in the minigames (there is a minigolf course,a tennis minigame which luckily doesn't require waggling,a barebone shooter,a few card games...) and the cutscene are seriously like the cutest thing i've ever seen in a vidyagame, this is so "dawwwwwwwwwww " i'm surprised sony didn't try to branch it it into it's own toddler cartoon or something... i think they realized that because there is an in-game tool to take screenshot of your own

there is also an extra section which comes with some promo material about all the previous toro games, there is 2 on ps1,3 on ps2 and 2 on psp... so much weeabooism i will never be able to do :fbm

what else... it was short and enjoyable and the story mode and score ranking gave you a purpouse to actualy play the minigame's,alas it turns out that sony makes better minigame collection than nintendo :shh

"Finished" Karaoke. Probably break it out again for parties, but it's nice to have another finished game, and not be left worrying if INiS has any glitched Achievements or if they'll corrupt my Save Data again. Ironically, there was a Title Update on the day I completed it, and there is at least one new bug it introduced, so I am happy to be CLEAR OF IT.

I honestly don't think I can get the last Achievement in Chime, but I keep going back to it because it's largely fun.

I'm shooting for unlocking everything in PlayFit, MS' fitness app which breaks many of their own requirements. To do this, I have the recently-on-sale Kinect Sports Season 2, the free-for-a-time Doublefine Action Theater, Zumba: Join the Party, and THQ's Deepak Chopra's Leela.

Leave it to THQ to make a meditation assisting app which is so frustrating that it makes me controller-throwingly angry. Which leads me to ask the question: In a Kinect game, if I'm controller-throwingly angry, do I have to throw myself on the floor?

Hitman Instincts is a visually unpleasant game.  Eerie stiff animation and a general sterile look covered up by tons of effects.  There's a makeup analogy here I'm too tired to make.

Watch out for Leela, theres one achievement which led me to scream at my xbox for an hour, which is ironic given the intention of the product.

One of the things I do like about Metroid Zero Mission is how they make getting a lot of upgrades into little puzzles. You know where the upgrade is but it's not easily accessible and requires some platforming or specific process.

decent zelda wannabe, there is a castle to explore and reaching certain point give you access to chest with gold's,you then use those chest to buy access to specific dungeon which each have their own zelda toys and boss related to them, there are 3 of them,a sword to set things on fire (bombs, especialy bombs) a wand that let you create block and teleport object around and another wand that freeze stuff... there are some zelda jokes in the form of the old mans giving you tip and mostly amusing the zelda 1 statue's

nice graphics,ok music... it's a pretty short game if you just go straight to the end (less than 2 hours) but there are cards to collect and special room's to access which require particulary dickery of your tools,if you want to squeeze more out of it

It's a good game.  People will call it shit, but it's a nicely done old-school adventure game in modern trappings.  Story keeps you interested and can branch enough to stay exciting.

I hated Farenheit/Indigo, but I liked HR a lot.  Will be picking up Beyond this fall because of it.

I'm sorry y'all couldn't enjoy that game, but it ranks as one of my favorite in the series, and it's easily my favorite Wii game. As someone who never liked the Prime games very much, Other M was a breath of fresh air because it actually felt like a Metroid game. The movement is swift, Samus is way more acrobatic, and the little "finishing moves" you can do are brutal and satisfying. I don't mind that it was easier or a little more straightforward in the level-design, because you kick all kinds of ass as Samus and look cool doing it. That's all I really wanted from Other M :-[

I come to the Metroid series for the sense of isolate and exploration. It could completely lack combat and I would be perfectly OK with that. In terms of evoking that kind of atmosphere, Metroid Prime is still the top dog. There simply isn't another game that gives you the same feelings of isolation that Prime does.

This is why Fusion is considered weak compared to Zero Mission and Super Metroid, it's linear and straight forward. It manages to fall back on the sense of dread from having SA-X on your ass and I do appreciate that, but the fact it lacks in the other areas means it simply can't hang with the big boys.

And it's also why Other M is considered the weakest. The level design is dull which in term makes the exploration boring. The actual moving around and combat mechanics are pretty good but as I mentioned, I could not care less about that. Then there's the fucking story and the way they reduce Samus to a submissive joke. It's a sham.

Yeah, I totally understand the detractors of Other M, I just don't really have any specific expectation for what a Metroid game ought to be "about". What I love about the Metroid series is that it's one of the more consistently good series that Nintendo has made that hasn't been driven into the ground. I don't really have an emotional/nostalgic attachment to the series, it's just that no matter how many times I replay a given Metroid game (with the exception of the first one, perhaps) I'll still enjoy it, and Other M is no different. Especially because cutscenes can be skipped on subsequent playthroughs ;)

How can you not think what a metroid should be about when practically every game in the series follows the same principles and game design aside from two entries? Of the Metroid franchise, there are 9 games. Of those 9 only Fusion and Other M are outliers. How is it remotely possible to not come into a Metroid game without some expectations? It's like saying, oh, a third person shooter Mario is totally fine so long as you don't have expectations of what Mario is. It's a pretty one-dimensional argument.

I'd like and prefer that, tbh.  I kept thinking about it while going through Metroid Prime 2 a few months back.  Battles kept bumming me out because they're boring and only really serve as a speed bump to your destination.  I think it'd be cool if 3D Metroid became more of a survival horror game or something.

2D Metroids are a different story.

What do people have aginst the Sigma games? Sigma 2 was better then the orginal 2. Oh noes the violence is  toned down.

Metriod Other M may have been a bad Metriod game(a series I could care less about) thanks to its bad story and assume linearity. Still a fun Wii action game.

Sigma 2 sucks because the violence was toned down, AND the game itself was toned down. The violence being downgraded is a shame, because the violence in NG2 360 is beautiful, but they dumbed down encounters to an extreme degree. NG2 360 has enemy encounters against 8-10 or more enemies at once. NGS2 brought that number down to NG1 levels, which makes the levels boring and sparse. The increased enemy numbers is what Ninja Gaiden 2's combat is completely based around, hence the inclusion of cutting off body parts to slow down enemies. It is essentially a form of crowd control. With less enemy numbers, there's less reason to fully maximize the games features, as the original game intended. The result? NGS2 is for babies. Enjoy your baby food.
