You have to play all of it.

THE FEELS (tm) don't kick in until near the end.

You got a version of TWD that you have to play? You must have bought the wrong one, good sir. TWD is the premier westaboo visual novel of our generation, and doesn't feature any dirty gameplay.

Ah all the DLC is only about 10 bucks
Yeah the DLC is pretty cheap.

But yeah you really need the ending DLC, because well the ending DLC is pretty freaking amazing. I mean the ending of the game may seem ok, but then you play the DLC and realize damn they really fucking went all the way and made one satisfyingly awesome conclusion.

The anime DLC is ok in that it's kind of cool that did these cool and unique anime shorts. But they aren't necessary, they just fill in the blanks story wise.

I never played the Street Fighter DLC.

But yeah Asura's Wrath is awesome. It's got a story thats pushing games forward! PS3 version has some crappy frame rate though. Would have liked a PC version.

i was totally unaware that there was a sex scene in this game until it came out of nowhere.
All of a sudden the frigid commander's boobs started moving and I was like "wait wheres this going....ohhhhh".

It's kind of a corny scene, but whatever.

sceneman - the actual ingame ending of asura's wrath is just a bunch of text that basicaly try to cocksuck you into buying the actual ending DLC,you have no idea how angry that made... the XX.5 are just a bunch of anime short movie with QTE in it so that they can sell it as actual game, they add nothing to the plot either so really might as well watch them on youtube

that joke was already done back when asura's wrath was a fresh thing and i posted the same thing :heh

and i was angry because i had to wait like 3 freaking month for the actual ending just so that capcom could penny pinch some assholes... not to mention how bad the actual not dlc ending is,like if you watched a bruce lee movie and the movie ended right as bruce lee finaly reached the villain

Metro: Last Light is pretty cool. Pavel is a true commie bro.

i was totally unaware that there was a sex scene in this game until it came out of nowhere.

Them Euros will lay an out-of-place and totally awkward sex scene on you with the quickness (see: the complete works of David Cage). They have yet to learn that the only true interaction is shooting a man in the face, but we forgive them.  :heart

Yeah, it's a shame since Ys Book 1 and 2 had excellent voice acting for their time.
When you're done with that, download the Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys translation. My favorite of the "bump into enemies" Ys games.

Puppetter

oh boy i waited this for quite a while and it's finaly out... so what's this game? well it's a 2D sidescroller made by sony japan studios about puppets... the story goes like this,an evil bear stole some magical stone from the moon goddess, shattered it into pieces and took control of the moon,he nows pass his time by stealing the souls of children from earth and putting them in wooden puppets, one of these puppets (that would be you) escape his control and steal a pair of magic scissors from him,he then pairs with an ugly witch and a tiny little fairy in order to recover all of the magical stone shard and defeat the evil bear all for once

the presentation of this game is AMAZING,everything is dark and twisted like watching a japanese ripoff of a tim burton movie, there is a part where you jump on some trampoline and the trampoline are torture rack with kids tied to them :lol, the whole action takes place on a stage so there's an audience and of course as stuff happen they laugh, they "oooo" and if you leave the game alone they start getting bored! the evil bear is huge and ponderous,he comes off as menacing but at the same time they play him for laughs at time,i especialy like the moon shaped helmet on his head a-la date masamune, the witch has frequent mood swings and she's just plain greedy when it comes to the magic stone! most of the action is narrated by a narrator but it's not overdone like say... bastion! (you can take an hit without hearing "i bet that would hurt" for example!) and he spends all his time doing silly play on words and the like (his hopes were dashed as he dashed through the castle)

but best of all this game made me laugh, yes! a game! on this gen full of grim dark shooter got a laugh out of me,when was the last time that happened... was it god hand? i'm not sure you really want this spoiled so... spoilers!

spoiler (click to show/hide)
the second world is actualy a forest and as the stage start the fairy reveal she's actualy a princess and as soon as this happens the forest burst in song "princess, princess la-la-la" and bunnies and deer start to hop around and dance in full disney like fashion this alone is already hilarious because it comes out of nowhere and it comes right after the previous world which i want you to remember had kids tied to torture rack but then the princess get pissed at how cheesy the song is and start laying the smackdown on the bunnies :lol

in another part you fight a giant frog who's been corrupted by the evil bear magic,as soon as you defeat her she goes into an incredibly over the top melodramatic monologue so the game actualy breaks the fourth wall and they pull the stage curtain on her while the princess does a "summary" of the event but the frog just won't stop her monologue so the princess keeps getting interrupted :lol

then you go and stop the evil bear minion who's corrupting the forest... he's a telemarketer mouse that sells poison by passing it as a miracle drug through his telemarketing show
[close]

so... right up so far you might notice i haven't talked about the actual game... that's because the actual game is..... not so great, the problem is that it's really freaking easy, your character actualy has no head (the evil bear eat its right at the beginning) so as you play you collect actual heads with different motif and keep a stock of them, you can keep 3 of them and when you get hit you lose your head and have to snatch it back before it disappear, the end result is like playing yoshi's island,if you had 3 baby mario's and didn't have to worry about stars for ranking and you were invincible with baby mario gone... so far i haven't died once!

it also has that kind of cheap design where you get one power, then the rest of the whole level is about using that power in a super forced manner,oh and of course everytime you get a new power you have to do a forced tutorial to prove you are not an idiot (do this! do this again!) at least even the tutorial in this game are presented in a super whimsical manner (for example one of the first power you get is the power to block so the witch turns into a giant puppet boxing glove complete with googly eyes to test your ability to block)

your jump is super short so there isn't a lot of platforming, what you get is path of cuttable stuff that you traverse as you cut them with the magic scissors so for example at a certain point you need to reach the top of a tower so a line of paper bats appear and you climb it by cutting it which kinda makes the game feels on autopilot

lastly there are hidden stuff in stages that you can find by moving a cursor with the left stick and pushing R2 to check for stuff, this can give you coins and occasionaly makes more head pops out, some part of the level reward you with bonus if you come in with a certain head and frankly it's really annoying as i find myself always lacking the right head and it's somewhat pointless... it feels tacked on so that they could put move support in the game (by the way in cutscenes a lot of stuff suspiciously pop out from the screen like the game want's to really really really be played in 3D) finishing a world also reward you with some backstory about the characters and of course they are all incredibly morbid and tim burtony too,the first one is for example about how the witch sarcastic smuggy cat died 7 times while trying to defeat the evil bear and before ending up as the cat witch

so basicaly it's lack of difficulty and overdone tutorial kinda screams at a game aimed for kids but ehy you are going to have a blast as you watch that kid play it! so i'd still say go for it if you value presentation over substance or if you have a kid that likes nightmare before christmas

spoiler (click to show/hide)

First off, this has got to be the worst Kojima dialogue. Has to be. I've already deleted it all from my mind, but never before have I thought "THIS IS NOT HOW PEOPLE TALK OR ACT" so frequently. This can't be a translation issue. The man is just deranged. Now I know he's beyond saving. Nobody near will laugh in his face about the shit he writes, but good god does he need it.
*exhale* Okay, video games.
This one seems tougher than the first. Or I just suck now, not sure. It doesn't help that things descend into chaos if you face more than one enemy up-close (can't tell when it's safe to attack), but that might just be me trying to stubbornly hit things with my sword-arm when I shouldn't. I'm just past the fight with Leo in his Vic Viper (didn't see that coming :leon ) and so far it seems OK. Some slowdown here and there. The swarm of smaller enemies are tedious to fight, new missile barrage attack notwithstanding. But: giant flying robots, so whatever.

the original HD port had tons of issues with framerate, and glitches and stuff. Konami apparently had another company redo the port job and now it runs at 1080 @ a much more consistent framerate

Now I'm tempted to take a look at it again. Hard to imagine that it's worse than ZoE2 though.

yeah pretty much. You need to cycle through 3 combinations of the available teammates over the playthroughs. It was actually pretty fun, there is enough new content and dialogue with the different characters, and choosing different Paragon/Renegade options to keep the game enjoyable through the playthroughs.

It got boring when I was doing my final run to grind out biotic powers, and that Pinnacle Station DLC blew major dick. Still an amazing game

continue's to have an amazing presentation while being slapped on an easy sidescroller... the stages have sombered up from grim visual and have become of a more colorfull variety... one thing i noticed as i played is that the villains are actualy based on the Chinese Zodiac so there are A LOT of characters in fact every world after the first has at least 2 villain in it,anyway so what happened in the meanwhile?

spoiler (click to show/hide)
world 3 is a pirate world, the stage opens with the two bear minion (who are a pirate goat and a pirate pig) capturing you,you then escape and help another pirate called captain gaff... as you traverse the ship the pirate goat and pirate pig duel with captain gaff in the background the whole time while throwing zingers and pun at each other

part 2 is underwater and you need to get back a trident from a giant octopus... now giant octopus aren't anything new to videogames but this game just had to up the ante,so it's a giant octopus with a sushi bar and a fake japanese accent... mmm... the whole sentence just fill me with weeaboo whimsical energy so i'm going to repeat it again, you fight a giant sushi making octopus

part 3 is the most boring and you infiltrate pirate goat and pirate pig hidden fortress, there is a bunch of james bond jokes and at the end they fight you in a robo enemy crab, and yes they make the giant enemy crab reference lest we all forget

world 4 completly switch setting and is far west inspired, the two minion are a bull and an horse and they spend all time racing around and screaming insult at each other (you see they were married to each other before the bear made them into their minions) after confronting them it ends up in a race so the horse turns into a train and you get into a train chase sequence, after that you end up defeating the horse so the bull challenge you one-on-one which ends up in a mexican festival level, complete with fireworks, pinata's and luchadores

world 5 is horror/halloween themed so the visual go back to being grim dark for another while, there is a lot of pumpkin and sweets,in fact part 2 opens with you having turned into a giant blob for eating too much so you have to roll down a hill until you slim down back to normal :lol you then fight a giant pumpkin monster, the world then ends with a trip to the local cemetery... the funniest part is when you break a tomb and you meet a vampire who starts ranting about how his life... err... sucks (no pun intended!) he said he came to the moon so he wouldn't be hit by the sun anymore but on the moon there is nobody to bite so there is nothing for him to do and nobody is scared of him because "the internet is much scarier" :lol, the world then ends with you breaking into the monkey minion mad scientist laboratory and you fight a giant robo dog

and that's pretty much where i stopped... but i wanted to get a preview of world 6 so i got a peek and world 6 features a french illusionist rabbit and you fight him on a bunch of playing cards and as you fight him he pulls magic trick!
[close]

there is not much to add to what i said before... i'm at world 6 out of 7 so probably i'll be done with the game by the next time, there is a lot of variety in characters and levels and i absolutely love it but it plays like baby first sidescroller

you get 3 hits per life, when you get hit your head fly off and if you catch it right away you get it back and don't lose health,i currently have like 36 extra lives and only died like... 3 times i think? as i said it's like playing yoshi's island,if you had 3 baby mario's and didn't have to worry about stars for ranking and you were invincible while baby mario was gone

to be fair to the game most of the later bosses feature pits and holes and it's not uncommon to have a head roll in some hole where you can't catch it back but they also give you back an extra head when you hit the boss so it kinda still balances out

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS PLEASE TELL ME BECAUSE I NEED SOMEONE TO DISCUSS THIS GAME WITH

i love the shit out of it. its a big ol non-linear box of old-school puzzles, platforms, and combat. the amount of content in the game is massive, and it never gets boring because youre always finding new items or realizing the solutions to puzzles you came across. i love that they put a hint in for all of the games shitload of puzzles. everything feels so well thought-out and intricate, and i love all the personality and charm the game has (the translator needs to get killed tho).

i barely touched the original; i hear they changed up the bosses, added in some puzzles and took out others, and gave hints for the more fucked-up ones. its great.

I actually wanted to get the WiiWare version because I love that system and want to have more games for it, but it isn't clear how it differs from the PC re-release, if at all

Pretty much everything has been destroyed by employment but hey....

FF14 (PC) yeah, this is pretty good so far and a pretty good single player experience. Worst thing about the game is getting online.

Killzone (vita) single player - bit mixed on it at the moment - it's just not grabbing me like i thought it would

other than that just clearing all decks for MH4 - possibly from tonight! woohoo!

ZoE2. Everything past the last boss fight with Viola, en route to getting the Zero Shift, is incredibly shit so far. Holy Christ. The gimmick boss fight was bad enough (cross swords then grab to delete the rogue AI to save the pilot), then they had you escort the dumb bitch pilot who of course can't fucking fly her mech without the AI because she has a vagina or something (fucking hell Kojima) and NOW there's a fucking GPS guidance stage through some sort of mine-field or something where you have to follow her instructions to the letter.
To your left. To your left. To your left. To your right. To the left, a little bit more. Alright, go forward now. Stop! Adjust your direc-... :snoop :pacspit

Same as Tiesto, I played the original for a while. Got stuck somewhere deep in the temple, around the bit with the pyramids and never went back to it. Hearing that they defused some of the more obscure puzzles sounds good. I have a question about this version though. Does it do the thing where you can switch back to the old visuals? I kinda liked the incredibly crude pixel look.

Yeah, ZoE2 sucks balls.

Most overrated ps2 action title next to Mark of the Kri.

Only thing ZOE2 has going for is its aesthetic, which is fantastic.

Rufus get Onimusha 2. It is probably the best traditional action adventure title on the system next to Yakuza 2. Having proficiency in Japanese history and Yagyu Jubei could enhance enjoyment but I suggest it wholeheartedly.

I liked Mark of Kri well enough. Don't remember much beyond the unique targeting system. I have the sequel lying around somewhere which I will eventually get around to playing.

Way ahead of you re Onimusha 2. It's my favourite Onimusha game. :heart

Sony was so excited about Mark of Kri's targeting controls, the made a big deal out of announcing they'd patented it.

It feels good for the most part. The problem for me lies in level design and the enemy composition/numbers and the resulting chaos on screen. I find myself abusing the grab (and now ranged grab) a lot. Not sure that's how you're supposed to do it, but it's really effective provided they aren't already knocking you back and forth or shooting you in the back as you're dealing with what's right in front of you. It's just hard to keep track of things with 3+ enemies. I try to dash around and defend where possible, but it only seems to extend the fights.

Puppeteer

finished! so... the rest of the game

spoiler (click to show/hide)
act 6 features a bunny and rooster general,as i said the bunny is a french illusionist, rides a clock monocycle and you have to chase him on a bunch of roofs as he scream "I AM LATE! I AM LATE!" he then fights you on a bunch of magic cards and everytime you hit him he fucks up a magic trick, definitely one of my favourite character, you then encounter mr.pink a motor mouth flamingo who talks and talks and talks and basicaly tell you the evil bear final plan but this all happen on the background (man i wish nintendo game could do that!) but the tl;dr is that they are going to stop a clock so that the moon bear can become all-powerfull,the clock stops so the bear calls his last minion in the dragon and the last level of act 6 is about fighting the dragon which you then defeat

so start the last act in act 7! back when you fight the monkey minion he actualy escapes so you don't get his magic shard thingie so the level is about catching him,you first chase him through mountains and then the chase ends up in space where you end up traversing the various constellation, after that you finaly ensemble the magic stone again by defeating a huge plant and then the last level comes where you fight the moon bear itself who in the meanwhile has become huge! have you ever watched "mickey mouse and the beanstalk" when mickey mouse fight the giant? it's kinda like that... of course the moon bear gets defeated,he cries that he just wanted a friend and the protagonist get sent back home, roll credits (so that you can pretend to care about who made this game, concludes the narrator)
[close]

you know the thing i hated most about the game is how every boss fight ends in a QTE,it just reeks of lazy modern design! it's not like there isn't an actual boss fight before the QTE but it just sort of clashes with the 2D gameplay

apparently after finishing the game you can still go back for hidden head interaction and the like as previous stage have things you can only do with stuff that you get in later level (for example in the first level there is a head hidden in a pot which you can get only by bombing it but you don't get bombs until world 2)

mmm what else, the backstories you unlock are incredibly sad for a kid game, one of the last one is about this NPC and how the bear invasion made him jobless,so that forced him into finding more and more humiliating job, meanwhile his family leaves so he attempt suicide by tying himself to his old workplace :S

anyway as i said many times it was kind of "looks really good but doesn't play that great" game

Started playing Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. It's awesome! The humor and writing is spot on.

Heaps of lolz already, and I've only done the first mission! I lost it when:

Done with ZoE2. Zero Shift is fucking boring. The game appropriately takes away all sub-weapons shortly after you get it because you really don't need them or even a functioning shield any more. No wonder it takes so long to get it, it's basically god mode. The last boos fights were dumb, too. Outside of one attack that is hard to dodge (those angled seeking laser beams) Anubis was a push-over, in both forms.
It's very "eh" all around. Movement and combat feels good (when you're not getting swarmed), but the game they built around it is thoroughly mediocre.
