been on a DMC4 kick, while I'm taking a break from Bayonetta.  Finished Easy for the cheevs and I'm on Normal now...no cheevs in sight for a long time, since I've got everything up to the halfway point of Son of Sparda (played the game on launch on a different 360, never transfered the save.)

awesome stuff, but definitely half a game.  I hope they change a lot in DMC5.

--separate campaigns/areas for Dante/Nero.
--Trish/Lady playable?  feels like a fanboy request though...
--No grades for orb collecting.  God this is fucking annoying, especially since you're in the same areas for multiple chapters at a time and the damn respawned orbs count towards your grade.  Wouldn't be as much of a problem if the areas didn't repeat, but it's still something that distracts from action.
--More weapons/skills for Nero
--epic return of Virgil
--hair boots
--DLC (or more features to begin with) - would love the PC extras in the 360 version.  At least turbo mode for fucks sake.

This * infinity. I'm only halfway through the game but I can already tell the variety allowed for combos is disappointingly shallow.

Anyone here who completed Heaven or Hell mode? Thinking of picking up DMC3 also cuz I want something that will have me throwing my controller at the walls in frustration, and Devil Hunter on DMC4 is pretty lame

Fuckloads of Torchlight and Mass Effect with occasional KOTOR sprinkled in. After I'm done with both, moving on to the LucasArts Adventure Pack and The Secret of Monkey Island.

EDIT: I don't want to get flamed, but I tried playing Dragon Age: Origins and really couldn't enjoy it. I'll admit I'm too young to have enjoyed the original Baldur's Gate games, so to me DA:O comes off as a slower version of Diablo 2, which isn't at all my kind of game.

Anyone saying that Bayonetta is as easy as DMC4 should try doing the Alfheim challenges on the harder difficulties.

Heaven or Hell mode is 1 hit kills for everything, you want Hell or Hell mode. But you still get about 4 hits before game over.

If you want throw your controller against the wall, play Ninja Gaiden 2.

DMC3 you still have to play through normal mode and such to reach the harder difficulties... wont be any different from DMC4.

Bayonetta is much easier than DMC4. Just because the enemy placement is different in the Alfheims between Hard and Normal (Infinite Climax is Hard mode, doesnt count) doesnt notch it up one. To be forced to restrict you along with a time limit shows how easy it is.

Her nose is way off from the model in the first one.  It doesn't help that they show you clips of from the first game in the intro, and then you meet the character again and it looks NOTHING LIKE SHE DID in the first one.

Also, the environments in AC2 are so much bigger than the ones in the first, but the characters all look like they're made of plastic.  They really changed the aesthetic this time around.  I preferred the griminess in AC1 to the almost overly-sterile look in AC2 thus far.
The face normal maps are lower res than the rest of the environments but I don't think that they're any worse than the first game.  First game had low res faces too.

I just played the Dark Void demo and I actually enjoyed it unlike everybody else for some reason.  The flying is actually pretty fun once you get the basic mechanics and learn to how hijack ships and do 180 turns.  The on-foot combat was OK but you had barely enough time to learn the controls and they didn't even let you try out the vertical cover which was perhaps the coolest gameplay mechanic in the game.

The face actually LOOKED a LOT like the actress in question in the first game, nintenho.
yeah if you tried to get up to her face or anybody else's, they would look janky/low detail also.  It's probably just the compromise they had to make between having beautiful environments or dozens of NPC's with good faces.  Nobody would even notice if it wasn't for the sequel's more cinematic sequels compared to the static camera of the last game.

Meh. Dante's Inferno is like a failed attempt at cloning a magic mushroom; barely mutated, yet fundamentally changed, and useless for any other purpose than inspiring a bit of vomit.

i lol'd a lot while playing it

The only big differences that I can see are bigger/rounder eyes and lipstick.  Her cheeks also went from pale to rosy so it's possible that the character artists just went at the model with a make-up kit and put eyeliner on instead of physically enlarging the eyes.  Maybe she wanted to look good before escaping from Abstergo?

DMC3 is great for that, once you beat normal.  Demi's suggestion of NG2 also works, but you still have to get through normal, which is easier than DMC3's normal, imo.  Plus, DMC3 is fun hard, not fml hard.

Or you could play more crackdown. The game holds up really well.

But if you get saints row 2, you may have some takers for completing the missions in co-op. There's extra 'cheevs for that, and I'm amenable to any excuse to revisit Stilwater. I played a couple more co-op missions with Sho Nuff over the weekend. Bitch showed up with no shirt on, and I thought "What is this? COPS? At least wear a wife-beater."

Yo Im keen for some co-op soon, Ive just been soooooooooo hooked on Mass Effect I cant put it down, and when you messaged me on Saturday I had a bro over for some split screen action in Borderlands and L4D2. You free tonight?
Crap, I worked late tonight; hit me up next time you see me. Unless my kids are awake, I'm up for co-op in SR2. It may be Sunday before I get home from work at a reasonable hour though. :-/

Stop it, I'm getting wood.

Tonight I finally got my Burnout License in Burnout Paradise. 102 wins for Elite License --- probably not going to do that, but I've still got a lot of other stuff to mop up. Every time I boot this game, I'm stunned at the amount of quality and depth. I think Burnout 3 is still my favorite, but the online implementation, camera integration, and variation between all the cars, and the reward progression. It's just about perfect.

okay she doesn't look THAT much like a whore.  I know that they definitely made some changes to her face but I'm saying that the detail level of the faces looks about the same, even if in the first one they were trying to make a perfect copy of KB's face.

That doesnt make much sense, not flaming just saying. The games are nothing alike. One is a coop click and lootfest, the other a deep rpg with deep combat and choices that make a difference.

The fact that the combat is point and click? At least, that's how I play it.

well Diablo is an action rpg, meaning every mouse click is an action.  Dragon Age is more about choosing actions for your party to perform.  You only need to click an enemy once and current character you control will auto-attack.

I have been playing League of Legends.  It is the only RTS I have thoroughly enjoyed because I only have to focus on my hero.  I am 0-4 though.  It always seems that one person on the opposing team gets to level 10 in an instant and everyone else gets annihilated in the process.

just an aside, I'm an experienced RTS player and when I first go online in a game my goal is to win one out of my first twenty or so games. You'll get better and eventually you'll be the dude owning up, but it does take time and a lot of humble pie to get there.

Speaking of humble pie,the current iccup motw are basically a who's who of 'maps that are terrible for Terran to defend against muta harass'. As if TvZ wasn't already maddening enough.

Are you by any chance playing on easy or something? I cant imagine you just point and clicking your way through any dungeon without having fights that destroy you. How far in the game where you?

I'll admit, not very far. And I play on Normal. I don't think I even completed the introductory sequence ever. I rolled a Human and got to the part where the castle was overtaken, and I rolled an Elf and got a little bit into the cave ruins.

It just dawned on me that I don't groove with ARPGs very well in the first place. In that genre, I prefer Action + Stat tracking type gameplay over RPG - Turn-based type. In traditional RPGs, I love turn-based. I'd only like to deal in one of those two extremes.

I can't boot the game anymore. Re-installed the game and the bug still shows up. Removed the mod and the issue remains the same.

You should hug your PC. It's preventing you from playing a shit game.

Its weird playing Kotor knowing who you are. Im compelled to be evil, but I cant pull it off somehow. Fuuuuuu

I just cant seem to make the "evil" choices. I think Biowares games present them too black and white: Like kill the kitten or save the kitten.

Yahtzee said something about this. It's like choosing whether or not you want to be Satan or Mother Theresa, with no in-between.

-Queen's Blade Spiral Chaos:  At the halfway point now.  After having difficulties finishing chapter 7, I finally cleared it last week and have been coasting along ever since.  Pretty simple game now that I have everything down.  There's been a couple of forks in the road that definitely have one or two different characters joining your party and different maps, but I don't know if I am going to replay it once finished.

-Street Fighter IV: Always satisfying; it feels like it's almost all "hardcore" players left, so you always get great matches.  My GP is still pretty low on both systems (7200 and 4600 or so), but I am winning more championships than before.

-Tekken 6: This is like the opposite of SF4.  I haven't played this online in like a month, and am already getting the same crap from before-- scrubs, rage quitters, and hate mail.  It's getting boring.  Where the hell are the good players?  I think I am going to pop in BlazBlue instead.

This is why the Witcher is awesome...much harder to tell if you're being good or evil. I felt like I was reacting to individual situations instead of an overall plot, if that makes any sense.  Probably because Geralt has amnesia and you don't really know what the plot is...  though if there's one thing I can say is improved in DA, it's that things are more ambiguous than KOTOR or ME.

I've been going through an old school style RPG mood lately.

Dark Spire
Class of Heroes

Also:
Bayonetta (Chapter V right now)
Street Fighter IV as usual

...and... maybe Serious Sam HD in a few hours...

Also has a brief flirt with Final Fantasy XI again. Love the atmosphere of the game but despise how fucking long it takes to do anything. I'll probably cancel before my free trial ends.

Oh, man. You just made me recall that segment. The worst of the entire game, but at the same time it was one of the few times they made the assignment different than "infiltrate, stabby, flee" - the whole approach to the boat was really tense, and those drunkards really could put a cramp in your run-up. I think I may have just gave up and shanked them with the hidden blade, and taken the synchronization hit. I forget, was there a tackle in AC1?

I can't boot the game anymore. Re-installed the game and the bug still shows up. Removed the mod and the issue remains the same.
This reminds me why I hate PC gaming.  :-\

You should hug your PC. It's preventing you from playing a shit game.

Erm, I've already clocked in more than 20 hours of gameplay. It just suddenly stopped booting up.
I'm going to fully remove all the maps manually and install again. Hope it works.

That's the stupid error message. And I tried everything that's been posted on the internet. Nothing helps. Other people are also having the same issue.
Good thing I only paid €2 for this game.

Made it to chapter 17 in Uncharted 2. The middle of the game, the bit with the train, was pretty awesome. Really like this game but don't particularly care for the collectibles (though they make sense in the context of the game and theme, they are usually really difficult to spot, and considering the game keeps pushing you forward, searching for them tends to disturb the flow of the game).

Reinstall DirectX? Clear game cache via Steam?

If that doesn't help delete the game right away. 2 Euros is still too much for that hassle.

Thanks, but it still doesn't work. Just reinstalled the game for the fourth time and reinstalled directx. Still no progress.
I'll just remove the game.  :'(

Guess I'll go finish Darksiders now.

The boat hopping segment near the water was frustrating as hell.  >:(

Yep, you can tackle in AC1.
