the demo for Gladiator Begins on PSP is pretty good.   I didn't even know this existed, but apparently Acquire made gladiator game, and I like it.  The demo is long-ish and has a weird ending.  You fight a strong female gladiator that stomps you, then a video of a real woman wearing a metal bikini and gladiator helmet taunts you.  Will probably get the full game.

Was collecting some green stars in Galaxy 2... ehhh, not really feeling the green star hunt. Shows how awkward the camera and perspective can be at times during the game.

uh shadow complex is not that fun.  sure it has metroid-style level design, but it plays really clunky and there aren't any clever puzzles/well-hidden items.  a poor man's imitation

beat puzzle agent - nice art/animation, ok puzzles.  potential there to make something great, but why do I feel like with telltale the audience is always the game testers and they just release whatever they're doing, it's just ok, they get feedback and then make a better game next time.  Shouldn't there be in-house stuff to make it so their first product to the market is always the result of many builds and improvements?

beat patchwork heroes - great puzzler.  really original and fun.  Got super hard towards the end because of enemy spam in your face all the time and you accidentally clip an enemy while going around them and lose a guy.

That's okay, I pre-ordered the game (went in on a 4-Pack with some EB'ers) and I've only just now made it this far. My first playthrough lasted just long enough to beat Bonehead and get the car, and that was pretty much it. I bought the DLC during the Steam Summer Sale though, and that revived my interest in the game. Also playing with some of the tweaks makes it a lot better.

Finally played through the 6 episodes in Sam & Max Save the World. I don't play many adventure games, but I thought this was really hit and miss. Episodes 3, 5, and 6 were pretty decent, but I thought 1, 2, and 4 were simply awful. Probably going to pass on playing season 2 unless I can get it for like $10.

Finished Puzzle Quest 1 as well. I've been playing that on and off for aaaaages so I'm glad I'm finally done with it. Pretty decent game once you have a good spell setup and a mount that lets you run past every enemy on the map. The whole match-3 gameplay bores me to death after 20 minutes or though so it took me like a year to beat this.

I also started up Brutal Legend and a replay of Resident Evil 5. Brutal Legend I'm actually liking a lot so far, but I'm only a few hours in. The distinguished mentally-challenged fellow AI in RE5 still annoys the hell out of me, so I'm probably going to try to get a friend to play through Professional with me.

Game is awesome anyway. Hearing Through the Fire and Flames in here reminds me of when Guitar Hero used to be amazing. Now I'm in the mood to try and go back and 5 star Raining Blood on Expert since it's the last song I need for the achievement. I have no consistency on Mosh 1 though so I can never do it. :'(

Did anyone play Deathspank?

I want to play a vidgame for the next couple of days until my copy of Last Ranker shows up.  Something short and fun.  Pretty tempted to go for Deathspank.  Wish it was on PC though :X

Or I could just get back to playing Dirt 2 and mess around with Flatout UC.

Ended up playing Neo Contra = rad, Joe Danger = ok, but the load times kill me, and resumed my Dirt 2 campaign and am finally getting used to Codemasters car handling.

The side missions could use more variety too, but at least they are pretty short. Even going around the world and collecting all the stuff was pretty fun since you have an awesome soundtrack to listen to while you do it. Now to finish a few more missions for 100% completion and do some oddball achievements.

I give Brutal Legend four :rock's out of five.

I've tried for three days to get League of Legends to work.  :-\  For whatever reason, the game worked just fine on my shitty old computer.
I've also been playing Dawn of War 2 (SP campaign and Last Stand).  I like it even though I hate RTS games.

Really?

I love Okami, but most people tend to be put off by how slow it is since it's a loooooooong game.

The only point in the game where I felt a slight drag was when I had to backtrack to get those three canine warriors.  Other than that, I'm really happy with the progression.  I'm not even sure I would characterize it as slow.

Neo Contra was sweet.  Dunno why I missed it back in the day.  Probably the same reason I still have a 70 game+ PS2 backlog: there were too many darn good games on the PS2 and it was impossible to play them all.

Konami really needs to make a new Contra.  Shattered Soldier, Neo Contra, and Contra IV were all pretty ace.  Maybe I should play Contra Rebirth on my wiiiiiiiiii, but the rebirth games are so ghetto looking  :-\

played some good stuff over the weekend.

No More Heroes 2 - seems better than the original, smoother graphics, better music and the 8-bit minigames are totally fun. People are saying it drags later on, but Im enjoying it so far

Bionic Commando (360) - freakin LOVE this game, replaying it for the 1000 (using a guide for the collectibles and making sure I do all the challenges, playing on Normal this time for less of a headache, did my first run on Commando). GOTY 2009 and one of the finest action games this gen has to offer. The action is so exhilarating, jumping off skyscrapers then grappling a monorail line then landing on a bunch of enemies, so awesome. The music is fantastic as is the VA (I esp. like the guy who plays Super Joe). A very underrated game.

Game Room - fat assed Mr. Goemon for a couple of hours. The game is super unique and fun, and tough as nails. Im 500th on the leaderboard and determined to get into the top 100 at least.

Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth - good game, up to case 5. Case 4 blew dick so Im hoping Case 5 is a bit better.

Bits of Persona 3 Portable here and there.  Also Ikkitousen Xross Impact (AKA 2D Dynasty Warriors with titties) on PSP as well.  In the latter I want to get everyone unlocked, but you have to do a lot of grinding and clear all the story modes before you can unlock the first one.  Takes longer than it should.  They really did a nice job making it better than the original though.  Better enemy variety, challenge, moves, the tag system, etc.

Fighting games:

SSF4: All the fucking time, it seems like.  Back and forth on PS3 and 360.  Yesterday I took place in a small 16-man online tourney.  They got it done within less than two hours.  Meanwhile our Bore tourney is dragging.   :lol :-\

NeoGeo Battle Coliseum: It was dead today.  Nobody on.  I came back to it a few hours later, decided to try player matches this time, and got some idiot who would rage quit after he lost one character.  He sent me some sarcastic message about expecting a response from me about his quitting early.  Uh...okay.  Rejoined once more and he did it again.  It's odd since he's getting nothing out of doing this.  I left player matches and went back to ranked and played some more.  While the netcode really is good, if you play most people in other regions, it's shitty.  And that's just about all who were on.  Euro and Japanese players.   :-\  At the end (maybe an hour later) I went back to player matches and the rage quit guy was still sitting there by himself.  Nobody ever plays player matches in this game.

BlazBlue Continuum Shift: J-Players have a tendency to kick the gaijin out of their player rooms, but I found one that was cool with it.  It's not like the connection is a problem in this game anyway.  I beat everyone in the room pretty easily and then wound up playing one on one with one of them for another hour or so.  Definitely the most fun I've had with the game since getting it.

Thanks! Rob does the models and textures and helped me on some scripting/animation stuff, Satoko did textures, I did everything else (architecture, assembly, lighting, collision, optimization, AI, sound, voice). Got a buddy to write me a soundtrack too. As far as I'm concerned, finding good artists is the major blocking factor for most level designers....I got lucky that there were two people who were interested enough to help me out.

I'm playing it and enjoying it a lot. You might check out the cleverly named "Monkey Island + Diablo" thread for news about Deathspank, since it's serving as |OT| and doesn't even have the name in the thread title.  :P

Hothead did PC versions of their Penny-Arcade games, didn't they? They are probably trying to give the XBLA SKU a head start before turning it over into the hot, dirty, moist, waiting hands of Pyrates.

Motherfucking Cock Mass Effect 2 is hard on Insanity.  I'm early in the game where you save (spoilers I guess)

spoiler (click to show/hide)
garrus and all you have on your squad is Miranda and Jacob.  Miranda is actually useful but Jacob is totally worthless.  It's a gameplus campaign so I'm level 30 and have all my weapons but still, Jacob is totally useless against enemies with this much shields and armor.  I'm thinking of just busting out my collector particle beam on these regular enemies but you die within a couple seconds of peaking your head out and I have to save some ammo for the gunship boss.
[close]

Would Insanity be easier if I wasn't playing as an Infiltrator?  Incendiary is pretty useful but is tactical cloak?  I never really use it but maybe I just never had to before.

Replaying Lost Odyssey now. It's strange, this game is only two years old, but it feels like it's been forever since I last played it. Still a great game though, even if it's a little rough technically. The characters and level design is so much better than FFXIII it's almost funny. I just wish the battle system wasn't so basic/generic. I almost forgot how good the music is too. :bow Uematsu

And I'm replaying Resident Evil 5 on Professional with a friend. This game is pretty hit-and-miss imo. If they removed the turret level and the assault rifles zombies it would be a better game. At any rate, just gotta do some random achievements, finish Professional, then buy the Lost in Nightmare and Desperate Escape DLC to 1200 it.

I'm also playing BlazBlue CT again. Finally going through the story mode (which is pretty boring so far) and doing some player matches to get the achievement for playing 150 matches. That's gonna take a while since there aren't a ton of people playing any more. Still going to try to 1000 this before Continuum Shift is out in a week. edit: Actually I just got the 150 match achievement, so I guess I've played more player matches than I thought. Awesome.

And finally I am still playing Death Smiles. 1CC'd it with Follett finally, so all I have left is Casper. Managed a new high score too (141m) to reclaim my #2 spot on the non-EX leaderboard. Once again, separate version leaderboards make me look much better than I actually am. 8)

Oh and my Japanese 360 is dead, so no more Ketsui for me any time soon. Worst console ever.

Sorry to hear about your j360 :(  At least there isn't much on the horizon in terms of j-exclusives.

I am looking forward to playing games again now that I finished my Unreal level and made that bastard run fast on PS3 :punch

Wow Sho Nuff, that level looks incredible.

How is the Unreal Tournament 3 scene on the PS3? I can get it for $6 on Half.com.

Deader than dead.  I picked the game up (again) some time ago for dirt cheap, no one was ever on, and it just sat on the shelf.  I finally sold it off recently.

About to get the 241st star in Galaxy 2... screw getting the last one, seems waaaay too frustrating. Gonna start playing the Rudra's Treasure translation tonite, and I've got a bit of a hankering to play some PSP - namely Every Extend Extra.

Just 1CC'd Death Smiles with Casper. Man she is terrible. At least Follett can still do some real damage if you position her option properly, Casper just sucks. Then again, halfway through my run I started thinking I was playing her wrong (I guess you are suppose to rely primarily on her shot instead of her laser) so maybe I am the one who sucks. :(

I'm surprised it took me only a couple tries to clear it with Casper though. Follett took me a while.

PS. Nailed it :teehee

That guy has good taste in games, but he comes across as an icky elitist type...

He's the worst poster on gaf.  Glad he doesn't post here.  complete douche.

plus he called Tactics Ogre generic in the face of Fire Emblem.  That takes a lot of nerve.  /shakes fist
