You could always dig into the game data and make a "difficulty/balance" patch for SOTN. I wouldn't be surprised if one already exists given its popularity.

nah, doesn't exist.

Ah, good old Infinity Engine. Even such simple things as clicking buttons triggers a bit of nostalgia. The sound and the little gauntlet curser and - everything. Rolling your characters stats, as asinine as the process is, is fun too. It wouldn't be the same if they just gave you max stats, I want to earn them. Byyy clicking re-roll hundreds of times! I still kind of hate D&D rules though. Level 1 characters are so fucking useless, they get killed by goblins. And I have to go through a whole save-scumming spiel to indentify items in the field because of the whole spell memorization thing.

Flush all Magic Missles and memorize Identify
Quicksave
Rest
Monsters interrupted your rest!
Load
Rest
Monsters!
Load
Rest
Identify your shit, switch to back to Magic Missles
Quicksave
Rest
Monsters!
Load
Rest
Done, continue adventuring

Ghost Trick
Missle the Pomeranian! :heart The animation is great, but puzzles are a bit trial and error so far, doesn't look like that will ever change, but it's fun enough to keep going. And I got interested in the mystery, despite that fact that it's going to be stupid, no matter what.

Been really busy lately so no time for xbawks, but I been replaying Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow at bedtime. IGAvania is like the best shit ever! Gonna max out all the souls and possibly start playing Castlevania: Harmony of Despair on XBLA again, as I never fully maxed any character, nor did I master all the stages (the CV1 throwback level is tough as nails).

I want a sequel so bad :noah A shame IGAvania is DEAD and they are are now peddling turds and calling them Castlevania :noah

Atelier Meruru

this is a slow burn but now that the game has started to get into motion,it really is the best arland game out of the three as the game gives you all the freedom from totori while giving you actual shit to do like in rorona... the fanservice (not that kind of fanservice >:() is off the roof too, astrid has just opened a shop and she is as hilarious as ever, seeing both esty and filly acting together is amazing too,i'm particulary amazed by esty because she took several level in badass

the crazy king from rorona who like to play superhero is back and his superhero persona has actualy a bigger role in the plot (where in rorona it was mostly played as a one-shot joke) i was saddened to see rorona reduced as a kid but at the same time it's funny seeing the role getting reversed and totori playing the teacher figure on rorona after the previous game...

Mutant Mudds

the graphics capture the gameboy color look perfectly but otherwise it's an incredibly boring sidescroller with nothing that really stands out

I'm still on my Metroidvania roll, and after washing the bitter taste of OoE with sweet SotN, I feel like playing one more. I'm not in the mood for playing Aria on an emu, even though I really liked it first time I played it. So do you still vouch for Dawn? It's been a long, long time since I tried it. It better hold up.

I'm still playing Valkyria Chronicles a bit. Well not the last couple days, but yeah. With the advent of next gen I realized we'll probably never see another game like it again, so I'm giving it a bit more time before shelving it for good.

Dawn of Sorrow is a much worse version of Aria. But that's still worth playing, I think. It also contains a much better Julius Mode if that's your thing.

I'm actually playing Dawn of Sorrow right now. Cant compare it to Aria, as my cart is AWOL. But its beast as fuck. As Oscar said, the touch screen seals SUCK. You can do them with a finger, but I failed the same seal 6 times last night due to crappy touch screen recognition. Could be because I'm using the same DS I bought in 2005 and I was drunk, but whatever

I more or less mastered the game in 2007 when I got it on XBLA. It was actually the catalyst that got me hooked on achievements and their potential.

Its a shame Castlevania XBLA farm-fest lootathon is dead now, that game was one of my most favourite experiences in gaming, ever

Dawn of Sorrow is still a great game with a fun map, lots of good enemies and bosses, tons of great powers and multiple endings and special modes just like aria. never got the hate for the game. sure those seals such but thats literally less than 1% of the entire game.

Circle of the Moon is a fantastic ode to Castlevania. Very underrated and one of the better Igavania titles. As for Dawn, my main concern was difficulty especially after Aria's balancing. I made a weapon I used for half the game in Dawn because it was that good. Boring. My own fault but players shouldn't be able to make weapons that decimate entire swaths so easily. Pitiful.

Yeah, I think that's why I loved it so much. Some parts really put me through the wringer which was a nice change from, as much as I love them, the sleep-play difficulty of the others.

The thing about PoR is that I was never sure if it came down to me being a shitty player, the game being flawed up the ass, or both. But I still find the core game the better of the ds Vania's due to its refreshing character switching system.

Tried to finish original Alice, only to find my save data is borked. Either Cloud Storage updated wrong, or the game has bugs. There are 6 slots for saving, one is dedicated to start-of-chapter auto-save.  I'd been using all five to progress, but the last two were empty, and the others were all earlier in the story. Not sure if I can get myself to go back to it.

trying to finish up Chaos Rings Omega. unlike the original, this is a really fun game. they out all the repetitious bs of the first one so now it plays like a regular rpg. its not mind-blowing or anything but its a fun game and easily worth the price square is asking. you dont even need to play the first to understand the story! recommended

also finally finishing up deadly premonition. i played like half of it years ago but got distracted and never finished it. so fun for the nostalgia of seeing a japanese game with all the terrible trappings of japanese 3d cutscenes, and for seeing swery's riff on twin peaks. the end game could use more open world exploring and sidequests tho cause goddamn do these dungeons drag.

after that its going back to mass effect 2 and 3 to finish up all the dlc i havent played yet. already went through the stuff that game with ea's gamepass; woulda been mad as fuck if i actually paid $15 for that trash. cant wait to go thru the final dlc for me3 because everyone - including me3 haters - has said its great.

Whats odd is I hated PC game for the longest time because of these issues.  I hated the installing, pin codes, updates etc. Console  gaming was great because all that had to be done was put the game into the system.  Now its pc gaming that feels simple, and when it doesn't I'm consoled by the fact that I didn't pay more than 20$ for the game.  Unless there ends up being a megaton console exclusive game I'm thinking I'm sitting next gen out.

i've decided to start yakuza 3 and there is so much unrequired talking,i've played for like 2 hours and it feels like nothing at all has happened! :S i guess i'm also to blame for deciding to watch the recap of the previous games,it's pretty funny i could recall the plot of the original quite well (which i finished) but i couldn't remember shit about the sequel (which i did not,i stopped around when you return to kamurocho) it's cool to see trophies, that give me an excuse to play the shit out of the mahjong minigame
