um, Microsoft can just re-launch the 360 when it comes out.  I'm not making a Gamecube -> Wii joke.

Microsoft already did something similar with new xbox dash, so why not this? even Sony seems to be doing something similar with the PSP and slim PS3.  If you care about perception, they can deal with that easily.

Um, is Xbox dash referring to the free upgrade dashboard? You're not that stupid are you? It has no relevance to releasing a product. And once again, this isn't a redesign of a product. It's an entire new product. And its a peripheral. That's the only word you need to know with regards to this. Will this sell more XBox's? No. Will this run the Wii off the market or cut into its sales? No. Will it maybe be a niche product and compete along the lines of other similar peripherals? Sure. If that's the standard of success to sell a niche amount of products, and maybe test the technology out for future endeavors at the cost of profit and R&D costs, then fine. That bar of success is not too low. Anything else is laughable though.

With such a protracted development cycle I hope they can have it looking up-to-date when it releases.  It looks pretty nice at the moment and seems to play quite well.

Microsoft debuted the first details on Metal Gear Solid Rising at their E3 press conference this morning, but there's a reason Microsoft wasn't bragging about this Raiden-starring adventure being an Xbox 360 exclusive -- it isn't.

"You know, we didn't say that it was exclusive," clarified Xbox executive and corporate VP John Schappert (he was the guy hosting most of the event) during an interview with me immediately following the press conference.

"We said that the next Metal Gear will be coming [to Xbox 360]," he said.

"I couldn't be more excited about him [Kojima] working on that [Metal Gear Solid Rising] and having that be part of our show," said Schappert. "When I heard about that, I was pretty ecstatic and it was an honor to be able to be on stage with him and announcing his next Metal Gear, which will be on Xbox 360."

So it's not exclusive then.  Uh, good I guess.

I'll get it on 360 unless they announce ways it works with the PSP game tomorrow.

Ah, the advantage of being the first to hold  a conference. You can sway people into believing that some games are exclusives while giving already announced multiplats the impression of belonging more to your platform.

Spin spin spin.
yeah it always surprises me neither of the other two ever seem to mind MS always goes first.

That jarosh thread (he the emo kid with the glasses that looks like he weighs 85 pounds?) on GAF is kinda pathetic.  Taking one tiny segment of the whole presentation that was awkward and ignoring all the amazing shit that did work is messed up.  There are a lot of people who didn't even watch the presentation that are just going to base their opinions on Natal from those GIFs and videos.

There's no reason to be hyped for Natal until there is some MUST HAVE software.  It doesn't even have to be gaming related, but any games that are released for it better not be like the Wii _____ rehashed bullshit for the casuals.  Until I see a lot of useful software and a decent price point, there's no real reason to be excited.

And let's not forget Milo! TVC will have a blast with that poor boy.

Apparently someone from IGN Nintendo tried out the predecessor to the Natal, the Z-Camera, at GDC 2008. Next time he saw Reggie, he told Reggie to check it out, and was told that he had already seen it.

It's definitely a cool technology that will undoubtedly be developed a lot more when next-gen starts.

Natal looked like a fancier Eyetoy... after being pretty hyped for the Wii, I quickly discovered waggle games didn't do anything for me and I prefer traditional controls. I can't see this catching on, this gen at least, it's already too late in the game for that.

MS conference was pretty 'meh' aside from FFXIII and (surprisingly for me) the CliffyB game... Alan Wake looked cool too but I was expecting more of a SH type survival horror game. Too many 3rd person action/shooters w/realistic graphics.

This thread really is beyond pathetic: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=363636&page=3

They're ignoring the entire presentation, which showed tech so much more advanced than what the Wii uses, only to harp on the 30 second avatar bit, which wasn't that bad to begin with.

A lot of the people didn't even watch the conference... they're just basing their opinion on the BAM gifs.

Someone needs to speak out in that thread and quell this injustice.

Breakout girl was embarrassing as well, sorry Chow.

Like I said before, I'm not that interested in devs approaching Natal the same way they're approaching Wii waggle. I want more concepts in the vein of Peter's presentation, not just Milo because I'm sure there's enough room for a more imaginative concept.

mostly this, but even Milo was fucking awkward for me.

And that looked spazzy as hell, along with the painting stuff.

I agree, but clearly we need to wait and see how well it actually works in a normal game scenario before declaring it the bee's knees. Natal 2.0 for Xbox 720 will probably be awesome, but I'm waiting to see how well this thing works and whether or not devs treat it like the Wii's waggle.
