Duh. You can't run a PS3 exclusive MMO and expect to be able to keep it open more than a few months. You need the PC market to sustain it and the console one to supplement it.

That was a tech demo produced by the FFXI team as research before starting real work on FFXIV.  It wasn't FFXIV, any more than the FF7 PS3 demo was FF13.

It's still dreamy. I remember when the shots came out. If the final game is anywhere near the concept (they've had a few years to built the world), it can be fantastic. If I was SE I'd expand on the bots (partners w/e) from FFXI and make it something like Guild Wars where you can have a full party.

I love MMO's, but rarely have the time anymore to dedicate to them.

It is able to do pointer stuff at any angle, can sense depth and do augmented reality.  The Wii can sense depth, but only when it's being pointed at the screen, which means you have to hold it like a remote.  They showed how you can hold it vertical or like you would hold a grip and still have the same pointer accuracy.  Again, it's probably never going to be released.
