http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2009/11/12/exclusive-independence-day-sequel-to-be-two-movies-possibly-called-id4-ever/

Quote
"What we want to do in the next – it's actually two movies – we want to do a bigger arc," he explained. "'Independence Day' was always like the king who leads his troops into battle against an evil force, and that stays like that."

So the plan is not just one sequel but two. And Emmerich has got a nifty title in mind: "'ID4-ever,' Part I and II maybe?" he suggested.

Mind you, there's not yet a script – "There's an idea," he said – but he did say that when they move forward Will Smith will most certainly be involved. "The idea is just to continue the story and actually I don't know how many years ago this was—twelve, thirteen, fourteen years ago—and just continue where it ended."

Supergirl! The Love Story

http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Rumor-Taylor-Swift-To-Star-In-Supergirl-The-Love-Story-16246.html

Quote
This website claims that Kanye West victim Taylor Swift is up for the role of Supergirl. Further they claim that someone is making an awful movie called Supergirl! The Love Story in which Taylor Swift would appear as the character. This is a rumor so impossible, that it must be true. No one would fake anything this ridiculous, would they?

It makes a certain sort of sick sense. They’re just applying the Twilight formula to superhero movies now, right? It was inevitable. So they’ll take a superhero property and fill it full of teenagers who aren’t Mormons even though they act a lot like them, and have them stand around gazing longingly at each other. Then every now and then, one of the cute ones, will fly. Whether or not this particular rumor turns out to be true, come on, we all know it’s coming. And if you’re going to do it, why not do it with Supergirl, and if you’re specifically targeting the teenage girl Twilight crowd, why not do it with Taylor Swift? I mean assuming you don’t care about making a good movie which, if you’re considering this, you most certainly do not.

Besides, it’s Supergirl. Geeks don’t care about Supergirl. Serious moviegoers even less so. Let the tweens have her if only to protect something we actually care about from their tempting purchasing power. Make Supergirl! The Love Story so they don’t make Batman! The Love Story later. Here's hoping they cast Kanye West as Lex Luthor.

How does the Man of Steel/Woman of Kleenex work in reverse?

The Supergirl movie should be animated since no human woman has breasts large enough to play the lead role.

Or I guess they could use CG like Peter Jackson used in LORT to make the dwarves and hobbits look smaller than the humans, only in reverse.

Speaking of Supergirl, how did that shapeless twig Helen Slater ever get that role?  I was just watching The Secret of My Success yesterday and wondering how Slater got so many parts in the 80's.  She's pretty but not breathtaking, and she's 6 feet tall with no curves.

How the hell was she Supergirl?

I could really care less that they remade The Karate Kid, it wasn't that great to begin with. It was an entertaining flick from our youth, and like so many of them (Goonies!), they really haven't aged that well - unless you got the blinders on.

It's not they're remaking Raiders of the Lost Ark or anything.

That was Matrix, which was the post-Crisis Supergirl made when DC decided that Superman could be the only surviving Kryptonian. Pre-Crisis, and currently, Supergirl was and is Superman's cousin from Krypton.

What's with the move to China? Pat Morita was of Japanese descent and karate is a style of fighting that originated in Japan.

At some point they actually wanted to change the name to The Kung Fu Kid, but then changed it back.

so, if anybody was wondering what the last significant VHS release would be, well, its this one.  The 80's styled horror flick The House of the Devil.

trailer here.  This is pretty damn clever, they should have done this with Tarantino's Grindhouse.  Anyways, its mostly a promo item, so quantities are extremely limited, iffin ya want the best in 70's tech today.  There's been lots of positive reviews, but it was barely theatrically released, so this is going on my Netflix queue.

If you can suggest to me a way to support this film while I'm in Korea, I'm all ears.

Considering it was available for download via Amazon.com, unless you are blocked from purchasing video titles from that store, you could have rented it. Even if there's no available way for you to view it right now outside of importing a DVD, you have a pretty awesome track record of downloading stuff that will eventually reach Korea.

Mars Attacks!: Bryan Cranston, the amazing star of Breaking Bad, has joined the cast of Pixar's first live-action film, John Carter of Mars. The film focuses on a Civil War veteran (the amazing Taylor Kitsch) who somehow ends up on Mars, fighting in the planet's own war. Cranston will play a Civil War colonel who goes to Mars with him. Once on the red planet, they start a high-school football team and start cooking meth.
