It's not that they are at Wal-Mart, it's that center free space on the card.

THEY ARE IN MY FUCKING WAY AND THEY WON'T MOVE.

Oh yeah, BTW, I definitely got a bingo last night from ONE CUSTOMER.

Isn't Walmart always cheaper than Target?  The proletariat will always gravitate there no matter how far out of the way it is.  Or free food.

I work at IHOP.  We have a free pancakes day.  Brings the uglies out of the woodwork like mad.  Never see them again until next year.

I think free pancake day would be the last day I'd ever work at IHOP. Down here, lines wrap around the building for those. Working that must be like working at a poboy shop during lent, which is to say, living hell.

There is just a different mentality at work with poor people, not to be terribly elitist. There is no point at which standing in line for an hour plus seems reasonable to save $10-15 on pancakes. If you are that stressed for cash, buy some mix for less than $3 and make them at your fucking house for a fraction of the price. In fact, do it all year. No offense MC, but IHOP isn't even that good.

Also, the Targets here are pretty much just as bad as WalMarts.

IHOP isn't that good.  But its us or Waffle House

Man, you haven't used the public transport in Poland. The fucking odor people emit. Like they wouldn't wash in 2 years, shit their pants and vomited all over their body at the same time.

Hey, you've got Walmart-on-Wheels!

The price difference between Target and Walmart is far greater than 1-2%  I'd say 10% minimum unless Target is having some kind of sale.

Target is pretty overrated.  It appears to be cleaner but attracts the same white trash clientele.  It just happens to attract snobby soccer moms so the average is increased just a little.  It is more expensive because like Apple computers, you're paying the extra price for the brand name.

Having worked in retail, yokels will go to whatever place has the best deals and let their hellspawn run loose.  Whether that place is Walmart or Target (pronounced Tarzhea) or Goodwill, doesn't matter.  Keep those noses pointed high in the air; maybe it will help take your mind off the fact that you're needlessly paying more for the same stuff that is made by an Indonesian slave girl chained to her work station.

You're insane if you think the second biggest discount supplier in the US is 10% behind #1.

*edit*  You don't really think that's how Target is pronounced do you?  That's a joke...

Also a joke is comparing Target to Apple.  The perception of price differential is much greater in Target than is the actual reality.  It's just not that expensive.

This guy found a 6.5% difference, which is closer to 10% than 1% ;)

The big difference is that Target relies more on sales than Wal-Mart.  If you're a cheap/smart shopper, you will come out much better than if you just buy what you need when you need it.

yeah, but his comments on the shopping atmosphere (haha) and the difference in service makes Target seem worth it over Walmart.

As far as prices I would pay, I always stray towards generics but I also mainly shop at costco.  In fact, I don't think I've ever even been to walmart in my life.  Maybe one time in the middle of the night when I was 8 but that might have been a Target?  I don't know.

Local news found a less than 2% difference.  Point is, it's nowhere near 10-15% 'at least' which is what you first postulated.

I'd say the big difference is in the quality of household items carried, those definitely carry more than a 1-2% increase (furniture, other large ticket items.)  When it comes to the basics (clothes, food) the difference is minimal.

If it was truly 15% you would find it worth your budget to still drive to Walmart.

I'm aware it is a joke but believe it or not, I do know of a couple of upper class women that do call it that!

Also, do you work for Target or something?  To be honest, the Walmart near me is closer and saves me more money than Target.  Only reason why I'd shop there is because of "atmosphere" but who honestly gives a fuck.

For SoCal that list needs:

"300lbs Mexican woman with eight kids trashing the store behind her while she argues with the checker (in Spanish) when they won't allow her to buy a 12 pack of Corona with her WIC card."

happens all the fucking time.

I go to many stores but Wal Mart is the only one where I either see something crazy or meet someone from my past EVERY time I go. It's right across the street from a couple less-than-savory apartment complexes so the clientele is interesting. I never see toothless hags though. The folks are more ghetto fabulous types. Like wearing a suit and tie with baggy sweat pants, or wearing a Pistons uniform over a nurse outfit

My wal-mart isn't bad, only because it's the only store around here so everyone goes there, including the amazingly rich.

You know... you may think that wal-mart is a pretty bad place for seeing all this shit...  but I want to see the bingo card for the All-You-Can-Eat buffet on the first of the month.

Oh yeah, that shit's amusing. I've had to go to the local OCB a few times, and it's one hell of a spectacle at any given time. Only thing missing would be the obese person in scooter, but I'm sure if I stuck around long enough I'd spot on of those too, probably around the dessert island. And that's still only 5 minutes away from my place, which is well within the Ann Arbor city limits. So I'm assuming it's a bit of an outing to these, er, "people."

As for Walmart, I'm alright with it. Most have cut down on weapons, though, so it's a bit less interesting to me now. Nicer looking chicks overall in your typical Target, so it makes some sense to have a coffee there.
