I'm not sure about this guy's credibility but he's got some good points.  Sony fans are whining now about a possible M$-EA monopoly yet they've always been the ones who desired most to have all the big games exclusive to their system of choice.

Sony fanboys are the worst ones. Don't get me wrong -- Nintendo fanboys, Microsoft fanboys and PC fanboys each have their irritating quirks and infuriating mannerisms, but the Sony fans truly are the worst of a bad lot. In a barrel full of rotten apples, they are the most putrid, festering, blackened pools of mulch at the bottom.

So, what happens when a previously exclusive game goes multiplatform? Well, if you're a real gamer who gives a shit about a quality game series, you'll be happy that the game is going to be enjoyed by a potentially wider audience. If you're a Sony fanboy, however, you'll form a petition and get incredibly upset like a little bitch.
Devil May Cry 4 is a perfect example. Originally a PS3 exclusive, Capcom made the wise decision to put the game on the XBox 360 as well, and fans were furious. Sony loyalists famously boycotted the game and launched a petition, begging Capcom not to betray them. One fan asked the publisher directly, "What are you thinking, Capcom?" The petition still exists, with 12345 signatures attached.

According to the petition, the PS3 fans "Feel very left out in [Capcom's] decision to make Devil May Cry 4 a Multi-Platform title, and hereby agree to boycott your sale of Capcom affiliated games." Yes, somehow Sony fans felt "left out," as if they somehow weren't getting the game as well. This seems to be a running issue with PS3 fanboys, that if a game goes multiplatform, they somehow act as if they're not going to be able to play it, and many of them choose not to, demonstrating just how much they actually care about playing videogames. To them, this whole thing is a melodrama about loyalty and trust and having publishers bend to their every whim.

I always wanted someone to spend time looking this stuff, but I couldn't get far into that article without feeling really bad for the author.  I mean, only a few sentences.

About the topic, all fanboys are shit.  Sony ones are especially bad now since they have to defend a failed console, but it's more of a recent thing.  Sega fans were like this when the PS2 stomped out the Dreamcast.  Nintendo fans were like this for a good two gens with the N64 and Gamecube (especially Gamecube, and they still are terrible in a different way).  I'm sure if the 360 started to suck shit, those guys would be the worst too.

In terms of console rah rah, probably. But as far as individual exclusive game defense goes, I'd say they are all about even. Of course, the PS platform is the one losing all the exclusives, so you see a lot more entitlement/loyalty RAGE amongs Stards. Ntards just don't have that much to defend these days.

Eh, fanboys are the lifeblood of gaming message boards. It just gets ridiculous at times (and yes, I admit to having been ridiculous once or twice myself). And honestly, I wonder if these people even get that they do more harm than good to their beloved crests. There can't be anything less constructive than having fanboys act as the defensive line for a game or product. Uncharted, Halo and Zelda would be better off without rabid, rude and down right hostile see-no-evil trollspotters "defending" the games against "attacks."

And people could stand to both lighten up, and get some perspective on their own behavior. Seems common among fanboys to be completely oblivious to their own ways, which is a bit weird given how dedicated they are to the cause.

I think the unwillingness to give credit where credit is due simply because it's on the "wrong" platform is just as bad as the anger over dissenting opinions. Both paths lead to stupid, and nothing but stupid.

See, Crackdown was neat. Few expected much from it, so it never gained much of a Defense or Attack Force. Instead it released quietly as that game that had that beta, and ended up being a public favorite. No hype, no anti-hype, just a good game appreciated for being a good game. That's rare for an exclusive.

Then again, I guess Infamous was also a pretty mellow experience. Not much in the way of raging trolling or trollspotting there either. Maybe it's the super-human open world format that does it.

Sfags are understandably frustrated. Their console of choice has been failing for a couple years, it doesn't have a single game on the horizon that will sell large amounts of hardware. The price cut will ensure a temporary revival, after which consumers will simply go back to either supporting a gaming system (360) or a toy system (Wii). PS3 is a console with no country

If you want a good idea of just how deluded fanboys are in general (Sony and Nintendo specifically this time) check out the thread on the PS3 diddle stick and RE5 re-release.  Nintendo fans now trolling something that is basically a Wii remote (this is after claiming they wanted RE5 on Wii only for the controls, which RE5 PS3 is getting) and Sony fans are now into waggle.  How are these real people.

For me, it just comes off like they're not taking it seriously.  I stand by what I said at E3: biggest failure with the Sony controller is that Sony won't back it (though, they've exceeded my expectations by continuing with the project).  The wand should have an analog stick on it, a second wand should act as the nunchuck.  Wii has already proven you still need an analog stick if you wanted to do these types of games.  What's better is that the Wii has also shown that two sticks would be even better because camera control for third person games on the Wii sucks.  MadWorld had a shitty camera, Twlight Princess Wii version didn't have the controllable camera from the Gamecube one, and so on.  It's like they've been developing this stuff since 2006 and didn't bother changing the game plan after seeing the failures of the Wii.  Natal at least seems like it took into consider whatever the next thing will be, and the only real problem that might have is no real transition from existing games to full motion games.  MS can make their own remote controller to solve that problem.

I think fanboys of all varieties would do well to stand back and ask themselves "why am I arguing so arduously for this?" It's not just games or systems, fanboys exist in all walks of life and are particularly bold on the internet. You have fans of teams and athletes going at it on ESPN.com, you have wrestling wars (I'm not sure how this has evolved since WWF/E absorbed everything, although I guess there's TNA to offer competition and non-wrestling alternatives like MMA), etc.

It's insane to be so inflamed over things so utterly trivial. It's as if some of these people's very lives are defined by their favored source of entertainment. Football, PlayStation, Halo, whatever it may be. It can't be physically healthy, for one. There have been studies linking the stresses of rabid sports fan-dom and an increased risk for heart attacks. So far based on explicit forums per system. The Sony fans are the absolute worse. I had somebody today in PS Offiial forums tell me that I should remove a PS B/C quote from Phil Harrison no longer works for Sony. I realize that not all systems are made the same, neither are the system warriors. But people come out of everywhere to defend Sony.

This is true.  But it's because PC gaming is an objectively superior platform to play games on.  Sometimes it's hard to lower your standards just to play one game.

Well, it sucks when you're playing a game and you just can't get past the notion that it could probably be all sorts of awesome if it wasn't hampered by the platform. See: MAG. It's got everything going for it, but it's on a platform that can't run it properly, and that doesn't allow for user modifications. Keeping this console exclusive is akin to casting Ben Afflek as the Daredevil.

They had a field day during E3 2005 when the media ate up all those bullshit trailers that Sony showed, and then proceeded to call the 360 not true "next gen". Really? It looks kinda the same as Motion+ to me, apart from having a disco ball atop it, and no nunchuck.

The biggest difference (positive and negative) is that the Wii remote is a camera and tracks the two points on the sensor bar.  Sony remote had the tracking point on the remote itself (the glowing ball) while the camera is in front of the TV.  The payoff is much more accurate understanding of position in the room and more freedom in how to aim.  For example, you don't need to be pointing it at the screen to have the pointer controls work.  The problem is that emulating the Wii pointer style (smaller wrist movements) isn't as accurate because instead of tracking two points, it calculates it using the data from the accelerometers and whatnot inside the remote.  Likewise, the Wii remote (with motion plus) can get a general idea of position when pointed off screen (Red Steel 2 lets you aim off screen a bit by calculating the movements once the pointer left the screen).  Chances are you won't see as much of a difference in a lot of the games anyway.  The Sony solution also lets you do augmented reality stuff, but that really won't make it into games other than party or mini games.

In short, Wii remote is more accurate when pointing directly at the screen and the Sony remote is more accurate for everything else.  It's hard to tell how they will use it to use the strengths of the Sony remote, especially since the videos of LBP and RE5 using it show it to be used just like the Wii remote.  So, in the end, if you like one you'll like the other.
