Never saw those sample videos. That's awesome...shows a HUGE improvement in animation over the other Musou games, the gore's intact, and it has more of a traditional beat-em-up feel. They've also got new pics up of some of the playable characters plus a new teaser trailer (which shows Kenshiro WITHOUT the scars...WTF?). In typical Musou fashion, they are giving the characters outfit redesigns.

Nah. I mean, I want Sengoku Basara 3 far more, but Hokuto Musou looks like it's going to be the next major step forward for Omega Force's games. It would be pretty sad if this were to turn out worse than the PSOne Hokuto No Ken beat-em-up that Bandai put out.

Hokuto Musou is supposedly open-world, which is in the right direction.

In any event, I'll be picking it up. It comes out a couple days before I get there on vacation.

Seems to be. You can scroll up in this very thread and see the quote I posted about that! Check out the new images/trailer on magic box (or Koei Warriors for higher-quality.) It could still happen, but the newest info also shows Mamiya playable instead of Yuria, which makes a hell of a lot more sense.

The new teaser is still all CG.

Those Koei Treasure Box sets never seem to be worth the price they ask for them. My local shop back in Kanazawa always had one or two available without pre-orders. I doubt it will be difficult to find.

yeah, looks crappy, but I will buy it for the "ATATATATATAT" and "YOU WA SHOCK" moments. It kinda reminds me of Berserk on PS2. Not really a good game other than letting you cut up enemies with a big ass sword.

I mean, I have the fighting game on PS2. That game is so broken but when you pull off a finisher and Ken's shirt explodes and the music plays...it's totally worth it.

and this is bought on 360. Don't know why it's so quiet and I need music blaring over it.

I have mixed feelings on it. It's not typical Musou because it's supposed to be an open-world environment.

It looks nothing like a typical musou title, aside from the waves of baddies. There is no overworld map pointing out objectives, it appears to be forced/linear, and you can jump all over buildings and shit. Seems more like a typical action game.

I'm hoping I can find this used and slightly cheaper seeing how I'll be in Japan 1-2 weeks after its released.

But I did pre-order the Treasure Box version for a friend; amazon.co.jp had it for ¥3000 less than full retail, which is pretty great in Japan.
