Because the case is a piece of art. I want that trashing my art as much as I want the 360 green crap ruining a box art.

Who the fuck cares about the quotes on cover art? You are buying the movie, not the disc jacket.

I'm buying the whole package. It's going to be displayed on a shelf. It's the same reason I bought the UK Battlestar release over the US one. If the UK has been more expensive I still would have opted for it because of the packaging.

Personally, I just put all my movies or games in a big ass disk folder/binder thing.  I'd never give a shite about box art since I just throw all the boxes in a cupboard somewhere and I never even look at them.

BTW what was the big deal about this movie?  It was fun, but it wasn't the movie of the decade or anything.  It had way too many gimmicks to be that memorable and all the nerdiness trbutes just got kitschy by the time bill murray ate buckshot.  Both superbad and shaun of the dead were better movies imo.

What if there was a really bad movie that starred Natalie Portman in a role she had to gain 75 pounds for, but it had a really great cover? Would you buy it?

Yeah, you're right. I should just give up hope that you'd use words that exist. Words from any single language, in happy marriage, a harmonious, contiguous sentence.

Anyway:
All of the hype for this movie built me up a little too much. I was ready to love it, but I thought it was only OK. Superbad-meets-Shaun-of-the-Dead is pretty much spot-on, esp. since Superbad is another movie about which I was a little too hopeful and turned out to be merely OK.

This type of lead character, these neutered, post-ironic hipster, corduroy-wearing twigs, they are some kind of offshoot of the Harry Potter "make the losers and geeks in your audience comfortable by showing that they'll win" school of thinking.

The beginning of the movie was badass. The opening credits were fucking fantastic, the Rules of Survival and accompanying montage of the fall of civilization were perfect. So as the movie begins by setting up its own level of realism, it ever more indifferently ignores those rules as it progresses. The Tallahassee moment later in the film was... difficult; they'd set the man up to be a cartoon character, and provided lots of support for that, then they give him an actual moment of pathos. Then right back to Savage Steve Holland levels of comicbook laffs and violence. Gah, I'm arguing realism in a movie about zombies. A comedy about zombies. There is not a :smh large enough for me right now.

All I can offer is that I own the special edition of Shaun of the Dead, Dawn of the Dead, 28 Days Later, and even Resident Evil (!!!) but this one won't make it into my collection.

It started to fall off when they started circle-jerking over bill murray.  The beginning of the movie was all action, one-liners, and cleavage (from what I remember).  Then they started mixing in some stereotypical "sympathetic" storylines (ahh he was crying over his baby) like halfway through and it honestly felt like the second half was written by a fucking studio robot.  It was obviously designed, as you say, to appeal to "post-ironic hipster twigs".  And so it was half-good, half-suck, not worth rewatching overall.

Yeah, honestly my reaction was to break out Shaun and think about a re-watch. As it is, I tried to play Condemned in a dark and empty house and freaked myself the fuck out.
