It feels weird to be more gassed about SP than MP. The MP seems cluttered and annoying right now, but the SP seems like it might be crazy awesome.

Anyway, Modern Warfare wasn't exactly a consistently awesome looking game. Shit textures were the norm, not the exception. The scenario design and overall artistic direction is what made it look striking. I agree with your complaints, but I never expected anything else.

Both in SP and MP. It's a riot shield, it shouldn't protect you from anything more than at most small arms fire. Given how fast the game is, I understand why they used that type of shield as opposed to a proper ballistic shield like in R6V (or hell, Uncharted 2 even). But it still looks off.

It's such a petty shit complaint, but I just can't get past it.

You could use it for a round or two in R6 because people wouldn't necessarily know how to react to it. But once they work it out you're fucked.

Yeah, it's even less useful here if there's slight penetration like standing behind a wooden wall. There was one video where the riot shield guy was being backed up by someone with an assault rifle and that combo seemed to work really well.

In R6V, you had the disadvantage of slower speed and shit visibility, and it still didn't protect you all that well. Here, they use a regular old riot shield, so you don't lose speed or even much visibility, and it seems to protect you real well. Different games and all that, but still.

I just went through the fall/winter list of what's coming out and I realized that every single game other than Brutal Legend is a sequel, which is the main reason I'm not hyped about CoD4-2, so I'll let it slide. I guess I'm not really hyped about any game this year outside of BL and FFXIII because it's FFXIII.

Even with the price increase for the PC version, I'm not sure why anyone with a decent PC would get a console version instead. The console versions will once again be gimped technologically and the PSN/XBL advantages are negligible since there will be plenty of people playing this game on their PCs.

I usually play TDM or Headquarters. Hardcore when I play with my brother.

I really haven't played CoD4 much since World at War came out - Treyarch took what Infinity Ward built and made it even better. I find World at War a far more enjoyable online game.

Boresquad plays mostly Battlefield and occasionally Left 4 Dead.

This is the company that gave us the 3x grenades, sonic boom and grenade out the ass upon dying combo, as well as the ever awesome continue kill streak reward after dying feature. I love COD4 MP more than any other multiplayer game I've ever played, and it might be balanced, but IW is no stranger to dodgy ass features. I just think it looks like they threw everything and the kitchen sink into this, and I really liked the simplicity of COD4.

Never got around to playing World at War, I had trouble getting past the lack of attack helicopters and good SMGs. I might give it a shot before MW2 comes out, though. It has attack dogs as a perk, doesn't it?

I never knew you could dual-wield but apparently there's an achievement for killing 10 guys while doing it. I don't know how that would work if everybody's running around with dual desert eagle's though.

Also, there's apparently like a third of the achievements just in the special ops mode.

1. a SINGLE deagle already is better than any assault rifle at close range. Even against multiple enemies.

2. cod players are already cheap enough to grenade spam your ass across the map so this little no-brainer is going to fuck up the game.

I guess I'll just wait and see how it's balanced but I'm betting it won't work out too well.

Still doesn't sound nearly as fucked up as the new sidearm system. Sniper rifle + shotgun combo, yay.

Anyway, is anyone going to be playing COD4 in anticipation of COD6? I play like an hour a day, but maybe we can get some games going.

The dual wielding is a perk of its own, so I assume it comes at some cost. I think you can pick any side arm you've unlocked, so you can have a machine gun, and a shotgun as a sidearm. Not sure what kind of shotgun that is, though. I'm more troubled by dual wielding SMGs, that sounds ridiculous. It also doesn't help that the PP2000 looks a bit like the Halo SMG in the first place.

Yeah, to combat modded controllers, and ones with "turbo" triggers. There was a lot of whining about it, but it beats the alternative. The ones who complained were apparently people who fanned the triggers, like you would with an electro trigger in paintball.
