got around to watching sacred games, this is really good. i went in with very low expectations since the little exposure to indian tv i have hasn't impressed me but the cast and acting is solid, the characters actually behave and talk in a believable manner and the story is good, especially the "past" stuff.

onto disenchantment and ghoul next

Maybe it was the weed or the 60FPS flow motion bullshit on the friends' TV I was watching it on, but Always Sunny really missed the mark for me last night. I know the group dynamic feeling weird was basically the whole plot, but there's still something else that feels off about this episode... Lack of music? Some stilted deliveries? A couple out of place awkward pauses? It's hard for me to really sum it up. It also kinda took until the second half for there to be much energy.

Still have high hopes for this season. Speaking of the actors' ages, Mac and Devito look like hell (which is something you could say about the latter in later seasons, but now the white is really creeping in.) And Mac trading his babyface for muscles was probably an easy choice for McElhenney and his character, but damn, he looks 15-20 years older than the previous episode.

Dee and Charlie look angelic as always. The Waitress has looked much better but she's also looked much much worse, so I'm not super worried about those three.

No crossovers (apart from Misty) and it's set post defenders, doesnt really touch defenders in depth but the conflict of the show is a result of defenders and season 1 iron fist.

I disliked Iron Fist s1, except I'd prolly watch Colleen Wing in her own series. I'm angry that she's just a support character for a milquetoast Danny Rand. I liked Defenders slightly better, and was happy with the adaptation of the Elektra arc into the MCU. But your review counts as damning with faint praise for me.

Iron Fist season 1: Fucking garbage
JJ season 1: Fucking garbage
Luke Cage season 1: Half good, half fucking garbage
The Defenders: Fucking garbage
Daredevil season 1: Pretty good
Daredevil season 2: Pretty good, particularly when The Punisher was around
The Punisher: Mostly okay to good I guess.

Every single season needs to be at least 2 episodes shorter. JJ and Iron First were particularly egregious with their padded out episodes of bullshit. Fuck Marvel Netflix, tbh.

Was bored and wanted some popcorn fun:

15min into Avengers infinity war turned it off

tried Solo and turned it off within 10min.

How you menchildren continue to watch this garbage i don't know. Avengers is especially lacking in mental fortitude. Do none of you notice that these actors are bored to death of playing superheros? At this point they are pretty much collecting a massive check while shootin the shit with each other.

Just started Riverdale.

I wasn't expecting anything too special, but holy shit, one episode in and this show is amazing on every level.

I think the only person here who hyped it up was TVC, who mainly wanted Jughead to fuck him.

The first season is pretty great regardless of the sexiness of the cast. The second season is a mess (twice as many episodes and less time to make it) but it’s a pretty fun mess. It half-assedly burns through like two and a half mini arcs and individual characters are written really inconsistently, but it stays engaging even when things don’t quite make sense. Season 3 needs to pick it up, though.

It's great. Todd really cracked me up and overall the comedy was spot on. Love getting more of the characters but it might be running out of places to go with regards to BoJack himself.

although when he and gina do the interview after he strangles her and she begs him to play along and not come clean, i honestly thought he come clean anyway to keep gina tied to him, especially when she literally says that it would mean her career would be defined by him doing that to her. on the other hand, maybe he only did it to preserve his identity or overwhelming shame?

Re: always sunny lookin bad

Danny DeVito, dude is almost 74 and he deliberately doesn't do anything to make himself look better for the show

it's also worth noting that the makeup and lighting on the show is done to make them look subtly worse every few seasons

i actually wouldn't be surprised if you went back and watched the first episode of the season if they all don't look better, especially are dressed better/cleaner, when Mindy is in charge compared to the end when the Dennis bot has taken over...wouldn't be the first time the show has done that...same with the bar possibly too

I finished s1 of Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency. By the end, Landis' riff on Douglas Adams' source material is pretty well done. Dourif is a treasure. I want to see her do more stuff. The woman playing Farah, the bodyguard/failed agency worker, doesn't hit the right notes for me. There's a HUGE issue with Landis shortcutting a bunch of procedural stuff, and also unrealistic emotional reactions, to the point where it was quite distracting. I'll watch s2, hope they get their stuff straightened out.
