Might give Six Feet Under another shot...

In the flash-forwards, Ruth is seen enjoying life in Topanga; David teaches Durrell about embalming; the extended Fisher family celebrates Willa's birthday; and David and Keith get married. Ruth dies in 2025 of old age in the hospital, with David, Claire, and George at her side. She sees her deceased husband Nathaniel and son Nate before she dies. Ted shows up unannounced at Ruth's funeral; Claire and Ted later get married. Keith is shot and killed in 2029 by robbers while exiting an armored truck owned by his self-named security firm. At a family function in 2044, David dies of a heart attack after seeing a vision of a young Keith smiling at him. While on a cruise with his wife in 2049, Rico has a heart attack and collapses. Brenda dies of old age in 2051 at her home while her brother Billy talks to her about Claire and Ted. Finally, in 2085, having outlived them all, Claire dies at the age of 102 in her own home, with photographs of the Fisher family adorning her walls.

I'm a few episodes into The Last Kingdom and loving it so far. If you like Vikings, Borgias or Game of Thrones, you'll probably enjoy it.

And they also got Bebpo's doppleganger to play the English king:

Finished season 3 of The Expanse.
I'm happy they knocked it off with the Earth politics bullshit subplot, and went back to the main plot, by the final episodes, i was about to drop it and they roped me back in.

The misanthropy in The Terror was off the charts relative to all else on TV and I loved it for it. A reminder that nature nor mankind have a true charted depth for indifference and cruelty. Especially when faced with survival.

Yeah it was bad. I think part of it is they just haven't felt inventive anymore, not for a couple seasons. In fact they resemble our current world maybe a bit too much. Striking Vipers is the only one with any edge but even then it still feels like it's 4 or 5 years stale.

Holy fuck at Big Little Lies. I was a bit turned off by how trite I felt it was but it just snowballs into this monster of emotional intensity. It is directly related to how much the show opens up these tortured characters but it's done in such a way that you're beginning in a shallow place that makes the opposite end so compelling by contrast.

I'd say it was my initial impression with the women being catty but the gears cought for me within the first episode further in. Could be my own extreme dislike for this housewives of fuck mountain sort of drama that it seemed to initially evoke but clearly is not.

Eh... it was alright, it's from the Mr. robot guy and it shows in its style, but the story didn't really do much for me.
Julia Roberts and Shea Whigham had good performances though (her in particular).

I adored Sharp Objects so I'm willing to stick with a slow burn. That's the sort of mindset I went in with this

I also have to say, Nicole Kidman is working on another level. She evokes so much with so little. Laura Dern too but with her rightous anger. That counseling session though, with Kidman. Goddamn the whole scene was heightened in general.

Just finished When They See Us on Netflix, it's the 4 episode series about the Central Park 5 case where 5 teenage boys got beaten and intimidated into giving confessions to a rape they later got exonerated from (23 years later).

It's been a long time since I've seen anything that intense. I had to take a break after the first episode and just watched the other three episodes in one go. It's captivating, terrible, and will leave you feeling angry at how flimsy the justice system is.

The entirety of new black mirror sucked ass.

I have only watched two episodes and holy shit was it terrible.
Fighting Vipers was so bad that it was hilarious, but that episode where the dude lost his fiancé because he checked his social media account and subsequently kidnaps someone because of reasons is probably the worst hour of television I have watched this year.

I see him as a less interesting version of Gaspar Noè, but his Pusher trilogy is fantastic.
I still like his post-Drive stuff though, i think it's flawed but very intriguing.

I'll usually take a sloppy unique movie, over a polished soulless big studio turd. (and this is not to say that all big blockbusters are soulless, or that all "authorial" movies are unique or interesting).
They are starting to blend all together though, his recent efforts.

Reminds me of post-Tree Of Life Malick in a sense, where both directors seemed to take on very different ideas before, and then started to shit out a million movies that sort of blend together.
