Three episodes into Terriers. Best pilot I've seen in a while! It's definitely not without its weaknesses -- I'm especially unimpressed by the character of Hank, who feels like a neutered version of the same antihero protagonist I've been watching for a decade, and there have also been a few distractingly bad lines of dialogue -- but I can understand the outrage over it being canned after a single season.

It gets a lot better as it goes along.  The final half is damn fine watching.

i was at the panel.  there was an amazing cheer that went up.

the cast was amazing and still had wonderful chemistry together.

at the request of a fan, they closed out with the chicken dance.

edit:  they also said that it would be a mini-series rather than a season, with just catching up on where the cast has been the past 5 years with each episode adding to an overall meta plot that would lead directly into the first scene in the movie.

also all of the stuff about Michael Cera being the hold out for a movie was a joke.

when Maeybe kissed George Michael in the pilot it was actually Alia Shawkat's first kiss.  Ever.  She explained it as her father was from the Middle East and VERY Middle Eastern.

There were like one or two great episodes when Futurama came back! not too shabby.

Also season 3 of parks and rec is up on netflix :bow2

I've been checking every few days to see when it would be up.  I got into the series late in Season 3 and most of the episodes were locked down on Hulu.  I can finally catch up now.

I'm wondering if they shot themselves in the foot (feet?) with the timeline of the poisoning incident. Seems like it would have had to hit the kid pretty fast.

i don't think what actually happened will turn out to be as straightforward as walt put forth. it just doesn't sit right. it almost seems more likely that walt perpetrated the poisoning himself at this stage (or what was with the gun pointing to the pot plant, saul being desperate to see jesse). definitely gonna be some heavy shit going down next week and i am pumped!

re: gus being a wizard, i have been suspicious of his powers ever since the "terminator shit" when he walked straight at the sniper. i was hoping that his not walking to the van would lead to the big reveal and that he'd heard walt from the roof of the other building. it could still happen!

I'm gonna cast my lot in with the people saying Walt dunnit to get Jesse's support, but I have a feeling he cooked up some other shit that just made it look like the kid was poisoned. Walt's a pretty big piece of shit these days and I feel like they want to take that as far as they can.

Dunno what to think of that Breaking Bad ep.
spoiler (click to show/hide)
I'm not sure I see how Gus or Walt could have poisoned the kid. Over at GAF some are speculating Hector had someone do it, to get revenge. That could make sense, but once again what was the window of time for that to happen? The kid plays videogames with Jesse, Walt comes over (but doesn't enter the house), shortly afterwards Gus' men are outside. Obviously it could have been done off camera, but I'm still not seeing it.

hector poisoning brock doesn't make any sense to me. while he has the motivation to do something i don't think jesse would be his first target and i don't think poisoning the kid is the first thing an outsider would think of. i'm pretty convinced walt is the guy that done this. the main tip off for me is walt and camera both focusing on the plant which is obviously a weakness as brock is primarily rock type.

If it turns out that Walt is somehow responsible, I'll probably be fine with it. There were a few brief facepalm-filled seconds where I seriously thought they were going to say the kid ingested it by smoking the cigarette.

Also, when watching the end of the prior episode with Walt losing his shit in the crawlspace, I had a really stupid stoned thought that Walt might be in the onset stage of Huntington's Disease

edit: I actually forgot about that Dexter episode. Some genuinely funny parts, some considerably boring, and a whole lot of ham-fisted religious crap. Still can't be worse than last season! I'll keep watching for Michael C. Hall and Edward James Olmos.

I also finished Terriers. Great show. Not much else to say. I would have donated to keep it on the air :gloomy

All caught up on Childrens Hospital.

AVC: What is the most ridiculous reality show that you’ve seen come on in the last couple years that you’ve covered on The Soup?

Joel McHale: Oh, well I love Hillbilly Handfishin’. It’s a great show, and it’s a really funny show. You know, you’re not shocked [to see it], but it’s really fun to watch people try and grab fish out of a river next to a guy where it all sounds like they’re talking about grabbing a dick.

I can't believe this is real.  :lol

The whole intentional poisoning angle is ludicrous no matter who they would say did it.  I'd wager they'll go with the kid snatching one of Jesse's cigarettes while his jacket was off and back was turned (revealed as a sentimental moment of filial admiration of his father figure); Jesse will blame himself and do something reckless.

i don't know if it's so ludicrous. they could easily just give us one omitted detail that would make it all make sense. sure the kid could've grabbed the cigarette but he couldn't smoke through the glass vial. he'd have to smoke it to the vial, figure out something was up, be like "hey what's this?" and then ingest it (kids are generally pretty thicc so maybe). i'm really praying that they don't fuck up the finale because this season has been very hit and miss for me and i want to stay enthusiastic. they could redeem the whole season or ruin it with this episode
