Homeland was good, don't know why everybody is pissed that Abu Nazir could kidnap a woman who had no bodyguards/surveillance.

Boardwalk Empire was also great, I think I counted 21 kills by Darrow. But it doesn't make sense why Gillian was left alive or why Chalky and Capone ambushed Masseria's men right after negotiating a truce with Masseria.

Dexter is getting pretty bad but at least it's not boring.

Walking Dead doesn't waste any time replacing black characters. If I see a new black character introduced, that means a black person will die soon.

What's wrong PD? can't the most wanted man in the world stop to get a hot dog at a 7-11 before kidnapping a CIA agent by himself?

And everyone knows that the office of the vice president of the united states doesn't have any cameras

And why would the CIA keep their bug on the congressmen/terrorist's phone?

Guess what? Sometimes something nice happens, and you stop to get a hot dog at a 7-11 before kidnapping a CIA agent.

It's hard for me to not still love Parks and Rec when the last episode had that amazing riff on NPR.  P&R is the closest thing we have to Golden-era Simpsons on television right now.

The League has been hit or miss this season. Some eps have been great, while others (ie. tailgating episode) were horrible.

Catching up on stuff!

AHSA is the most entertaining TV I've seen all year.

The Walking Dead is okay but so stupid so often.

Game of Thrones is the best series on HBO or Showtime, I think. I went in with really low expectations and have never read the books.

Homeland...lol. Haven't even watched the past few week's episodes.

Dexter is still fun in that trainwreck kind of way

Dexter is still fun in that trainwreck kind of way

I stopped watching Dexter halfway through the season after the John Lithgow story-arc.  I remember he rescued a girl (Julia Stiles) and helped her kill a few of the men that were going to kill her.  I got really bored with it after that.  I even read the books and got bored with them.  To me, it's always the same shit on that show:

Dexter kills somebody, somebody finds out, Dexter tries to keep them from telling everyone, he ruins his relationship with his sister, the person trying to expose him dies either at his hands or somebody elses, and somewhere in the middle he develops a love interest.

Lately, I've been watching:
Supernatural (Jaybo got me hooked)
The Big Bang Theory
Boardwalk Empire
The Walking Dead
Dangerous Grounds (all about a guy who goes to tropical regions to find rare coffees)

And I just got caught up on How I Met Your Mother.

Waiting for Doctor Who to come back on and Game of Thrones.

I still struggle to get into Supernatural. I like maybe one out of every five episodes. I wish I could just find the interesting episodes and skip the rest. The main issue is that the two main characters annoy me. The levels of BRO are just too much.

It got really drawn out from season 2-4 and seemed like they were always playing at the same stuff.  This new season is nice because even though they have another big thing to defeat, they are not always focused on it.

They've added a lot of comic relief through the character of Castiel.  Castiel is to Supernatural what Data was to Star Trek.

Yeah. I felt they were going to do an action show with Batman influences, but now its started to veer directly into superhero soap territory. I think that's kind of a redundant approach to take at this time. Why watch Arrow and not any other sexed up soap or Super Vampire show?

I'm actually going to wait until I can just blitz the whole season.........but it's still not as fresh.

Watching Vegas, and its actually best watched as a gay triangle love story: Dennis Quaid is shacked up with his real son, and his younger 'brother' on a farm. Vic Mackey is the dangerous, yet erotic city sophisticate, wanting the hot pierce of Dennis' tongue exploring his orifices. His hard loaded weapon ready to put a protein stream between those weathered and yet baby soft crags.

Elementary is actually pretty enjoyable. I thought Lucy Liu as Watson was a sure sign of suck, but since she's Watson she hardly speaks! The promos for the show also make it look like a TNT show, but its not just kooky partner hijinx.

Still not as good as the recent BBC Sherlock, but worth watching.

The BBC one has a better Watson (duh) and shows the deductive reasoning better, but the CBS one has some good plots and takes on the Sherlock cases. It's also seems to be set somewhat later in the Sherlock timeline. No mention of a Moriarty yet, but other acquaintances of Sherlock are in the past. There's some big event that creates a post-rehab Sherlock and I keep wondering if this is a post-Moriarty Sherlock. Hard to say so far.

And Lucy Liu isn't that bad. She does fine at the version of Watson they have here. Not exceptional, but she doesn't hurt the show. Aidian Quinn plays the police chief Sherlock works with and I've always liked him.

Last episode of Arrow was great.  Felt like the show was going in a bad direction and this episode went right back into schlocky Batman Begins.

spoiler (click to show/hide)
Let's just ignore the fact that Diggle traced Oliver's call, found him outside a building the police had surrounded, got him to a hospital, and fooled doctors into believing like four arrow wounds were from a motorcycle accident.

It's almost as unbelievable as when that scene happened in Batman Begins!

I've gone back to Supernatural this week, am still struggling with season one. Etiolate makes a good point that the bros are too BRO, but the appearance of Jeffrey Dean Morgan has energized me a bit, and I got excited that they let me have a few minutes of Continuity Nerd Bliss before they spelled out the return of an enemy from earlier in the series.

Also, Fringe had a new episode on December 7th, and will have another two before having a little break for new years, and then wrapping the show up.

I have the exact opposite view of Brody's actor this season. IMO his performance has been very spotty, ranging from good to utterly horrible. He struggles displaying subtlety imo, especially this season considering his character is so off kilter most of the time; when he tries to dial it back it just feels off. For instance, in the last ep when he learned that You Know Who had been killed. His "yea ok cool!" follow up after his initial emotional reaction just felt phoney as fuck - not from a character perspective but from an actor perspective

exactly. being off-kilter is the whole point of his character the entire season. the emotional tug-of-war basically shattered whatever man was left behind from season 1.

the only real disappointment in season 2 has been abu nazir's character, but other than that it's still one of the best dramas out there.

I really don't see how you can say that. The show has gone full distinguished mentally-challenged fellow and multiple critics have completely turned on the show, etc. I defended S1's finale for a year but given this dive in quality, they really should have just killed Brody off last season with the vest. S2 has just been a series of cut corners and casually bad writing that extends the ridiculous plot at the expense of making sense. I can forgive a couple ridiculous moments, but the season has basically strung them together episode after episode. Like last ep where the FBI is searching for the most wanted terrorist in the fucking world, who is holed up in a closed refinery, and doesn't use canines. Or earlier in the season when Brody not only sneaks a cellphone into a fucking Pentagon situation room, he sends a text message to someone halfway around the globe...who receives it in real time and avoids getting shot. Come on

Those are both assumptions, they may have used canines but Nazir used something to throw the scent off because omg he's crafty. And it may have taken several seconds to send the text, plus wtf wouldn't a congressman be allowed to hold onto their cell phone?

I'm far from a nit picker. The show's writing is pretty bad this season, which leads to cutting corners to make the plot work. Every show does this to a degree but I haven't seen one recently that does it as much as this...

I agree it doesn't match the high bar of season 1 and has gotten downright goofy in certain instances but it's still far from bad.  I don't think it's possible to say otherwise when the primary point of reference is 24.  The lowest dips of this season are basically the bread and butter of that show.  And while the scenarios may have become less believable, the character work still remains really strong.
