I remember in the campaign ESPN asked Obama and McCain what problems facing the sports world would they address and try to fix as President and McCain gave this cookie cutter answer about steroids and Obama's answer was to demand for college football to have a playoff system

The production is pretty bad throughout the album. Soo obvious Kanye and Timbaland weren't particularly enthused about that shit, and kept their best beats for their own albums lol

It literally sounds like Jay went rifling through his trash for rhymes, and Kanye/Timbaland/etc. scooping up old discarded beats from their computer's Recycle Bin or something. Just lazy all around.

Jay really should have stayed retired. Was Def Jam that much of a bust with him as President? Unless he fucked up royally I don't see why he quit and went back to rapping if he's not even gonna try.

At least with Nas you can still tell the dude is passionate about his work, even if he has a tin ear for beats. Nas really hasn't ever stopped being a good rapper, his production just hasn't been much to write home about since God's Son. Whereas Jay constantly gets the best dudes in the game for his shit and it ends up sounding like everyone was half asleep when they recorded it.

I'd be down for Escobar Nas if it meant a return to vicious internal rhyming Nas. Lots of his newer stuff features odd, stumbling rhyming patterns that don't impress. People hate on IWW but it's one of the best mafioso rap albums ever. I'm a sucker for that type of coke rap. Really liked Cuban Linx II last year, and even liked some of Rick Ross' album. If you can create an interesting soundtrack to your own take on Scarface or Goodfellas or whatever, the rise and the fall, ups and downs etc - count me in.

Coke rap is so boring to me. It's why I've never been able to get into Clipse, and why I find most of Raekwon's stuff boring (lyric-wise, the beats and Ghostface's craziness are what really made both Cuban Linx albums). Especially if you sample Scarface for the 1,000,000th time, you're just begging for me to skip the track.

Stillmatic is half great tracks and half silly filler bullshit leftovers from the Nastradamus era. God's Son has it's highs and lows but the high's are fucking great (Get Down, Made You Look, I Can, Revolutionary Warfare, Heaven) and the lows are merely mediocre/okay tracks that could have been better. Also the production blows most of Stillmatic out of the water, aside from the two or three Premiere tracks.

Clipse eh. I just don't like The Neptunes, and the Clipse has some pretty bad punchlines. That being said, HHNF has some great tracks. It's inconsistent though, hence my confusion as to why it has become a classic in the eyes of hip hop heads and hipsters everywhere.
