Heavy Rain could (and probably will) turn out to be a bloody cum stain of noniteractivity but we won't be able to escape it because it's a PS3 exclusive. The only way people would ever be honest and recognize its problems is if it were ported to a different platform.

A) There's a demo for Bayonetta and it rocks plus the designer of that game also made Devil May Cry and Resident Evil so, you know, there's a pedigree of awesome.

B) Heavy Rain is made by the same guy that did Indigo Prophecy, there looks like there's very little interaction in the game itself, and the journalists that are praising HR are the same ones that busted a nut over MGS4.

Bayonetta has come out in Japan. It's been out for WEEKS. It's been reviewed. People on this fucking forum have already played it and raved about it (I'm one of them).

If there is a bias against this game it comes from the hardcore crowd that tends to favor action over non-action. I'm not saying either side is right or wrong in that assessment. I'm just saying that is where any potential opinion differences come in.

It would receive the same among of scrutiny among that group if it was on both platforms. Arguably the major thing that has changed is it now has a built in strong defense force of being an exclusive and getting dragged along into the platform wars. If it was a third party game I have a strong feeling you would barely be hearing anything about it at all from the media just like Indigo Prophecy which mostly garnered its attention post release and a small relative amount of it at that.

Like I said. I'm interested in the title. But then my tastes strongly lie towards adventure games and Infocom games of the old days so I'm part of the niche the game is targeted at.

But regarding non interactive bore fests like Shenmue, Indigo Prophecy, and more than likely Heavy Rain, I got to admit that Dreamfall is one of my favorite games of all time even though there's very little gameplay in it. If by some great miracle Ragnar Tørnquist's sequel was able to scrounge up the ammount of resources that Heavy Rain has been blessed with I'd be one baton twirling motherfucker in the fanboy parade.

Even Alan Wake is a bad comparison imo because at its core there will still be a strong action element in that game. It comes from the people who made freaking Max Payne, a dogshit simple action game.

It will have atmopshere sure, but its most likely nothing like Heavy Rain. It's much closer to something the traditional hardcore community that comprises the press and internet message board nerds would be into.

Mass Effect had it's share of problems but in no way shape or form was it in Indigo Prophecy territory. Plus Mass Effect 1 and 2 is on the PC as well and I'm sure quite a few people around here will be playing it on that.
