I'd take NFL Blitz over both. Nothing like celebrating a sack with belly flops and elbow drops on the downed QB

$25 for Blitz 2 on 360

So I read through the article in NP, heres what I got:

- 2 Modes, 1 is called Classic Campaign, plays pretty much identical to previous NBA Jams, 2v2 [3 players to choose from], no rules other than shot clock and goaltending. The other is called Remix Tour, which is different, changing the core mechanics, rule tweaks, and camera tweaks etc. The devs didnt want to go into detail on the Remix Tour mode yet.

- Theres tons of new dunks, a new spin move that can evade the shove move.

- The faces are actual photograph captures, each character has multiple faces, 3 faces while running the court, 2 dunk faces, and a positive and negative face. (Looks hilarious.
Basically its 3d bodies with 2d heads)

- Option of motion controls or holding the wiimote sideways. Didnt see any mention of the Classic Controller

- NP provided a checklist of what is in the game:

Fire
Shattering Backboard
Cheats
Flashing Shoes
Flashing ball
Big Head Mode
Legends
Playable Mascots
Secret Characters

Didn't we all vote in Willco's thread that nobody not even their dog cares about non-Mario and non-Zelda Wii games?

This is true, but everyone ignores it to keep the fire of trolling alive.

lol. I like the look. It looks cheesey like the original looked. Like somebody just shopped digitized heads onto player models. I'm cool with that.

The faces probably animate like this  :kylielaff which I can dig.

I also like the sound of a spin move that evades a shove. NBA Jam was essentially a thugfest if you played it correctly so anything to help avoid that a little would be nice.

Probably won't purchase or Gamefly for the Wii but I have a feeling this is coming in some form later to the HD consoles so I might scope it out then.

Glad to see developers shunning away from the ultra realistic style that the Wii is weakest at.  Stylized graphics are the way to go.  I was playing MadWorld and thought the game looked pretty good due to the unique art style (shame the game sucks, though.)

Game looks delectable.  I think this and trackmania will be my last wii retail purchases of the year.  Although hopefully the sideways wiimote controls for jam are useable.  I don't want to be using the b trigger or anything like that.

That reminds me, in the original NBA jam games, did you have to use shoot in conjunction with anything besides turbo?  I was thinking they could put the shoot move on the a button since you wouldn't need the dpad to use that in any way. I imagine spin would be waggle, 1&2 would be turbo and shove/pass

It’s official: NBA Jam is coming to PS3 and 360. Yay! Bad news: there’s no PSN/Xbox Live Arcade release planned.Instead, the only way to get the game is if you buy NBA Elite 11 for PS3 and 360. And even then, EA’s Jordan Edelstein admits that it won’t be the full Jam experience.“We’re still holding back the Remix Tour for the Wii consumer, and that’s about 20 hours of gameplay,” Edelstein told ESPN.“But for the PS3 and 360, we want people to try ‘Elite’. We feel like ‘NBA Elite 11′ is a great product and we want people to give it a chance and see all the changes we’re making. So as a way to say thanks to these people, we are going to let them experience ‘Jam’. It’s not the full product, but it’s a good portion of it.”And to reiterate: “We’re not selling ‘Jam’ on PSN or Xbox Live. If you still want the full product, the full experience is on the Wii, but if you pick up ‘Elite’, you’re still getting a good taste of it, especially with the inclusion of online play.”

idiots. Looks like I won't be trying the new jam.

They're doing this with Dead Space Extraction and Medal of Honor Frontline too I think.  Those games are bonuses when you buy Dead Space 2 and the new MoH, but you can't get them on XBLA/PSN or whatever.

oh well.  It's still a bit funny how this is a bonus on the PS3/360 while the Wii version is a full priced game and the difference is that Remix Tour (but no online, according to people on gaf).

That is such a confusing decision.  It would have been far simpler to just have every version be a retail release.

Would have bought a PSN/XBLA release, but will skip it entirely now.

Will pick up Dead Space 2 LE on PS3 though for Extraction since unlike NBA Elite I actually want to play DS2.

The problem is you can't sell Jam for $60 dollars on the HD consoles. It just won't sell at that price. Maybe on the Wii which has no games anyway but not on the 360/PS3. So they were probably scared of selling a Wii game for full price and a better HD version at XBLA prices at the same time. So they are delaying the HD versions to separate it from the Wii version. In the mean time they do this bullshit move to try to prop up their rebranded basketball title. Just my speculation.

I believe the Wii version has a quest mode to add gameplay depth, though.  EA should have really sold it for $50 on each system and ensured that the features were the same between every console.  Now it sounds like that there is no 'definitive' version and everyone gets screwed in the end.

Wii version also has no online play. Which would make that version useless for me. And also the fact that it's $50 bucks. I simply would never spend 50 or 60 bucks on any version of NBA Jam on any platform and I consider myself a pretty big jam fan. It's just not that kind of game. It's perfect for XBLA/PSN style pricing however.

What the hell is with this attitude that this game isn't worth full retail price? It has awesome presentation, runs at 60 frames percent, a punch-out esque mode against nba legacy stars, whatever the hell remix mode is, multiple multiplayer modes. It looks like a fun game with arcade sentiments and a ton of replay value. If this can't be upper echelon of pricing I don't understand how any sports game could. I'm all for this being on as many platforms as applicable, (as long as I get my wii version) but its frustrating seeing people constantly relegate certain types of games to "bargain only" status.

Because NBA Jam is a pretty shallow game at its core.  It's awesome, but it only has the depth of a modern XBLA/PSN game.  You can dress it up all you want with modes, but it's a fun arcade game that should sell at modern arcade price ($15-20).

Why in god's name are you worried about what I'm willing to spend on a videogame? But if you want to talk basic facts lets see how it sells on the Wii when it comes out and how it would sell on the HD consoles for $60. My guess is not so great. But we'll see I suppose.

Stoney, it aint ya specifically. I just see this attitude everywhere that arcade sports games, platformers, puzzle games, etc could never fit into higher price brackets. This is often assumed first and never is the content of the product researched by the people who say these things.

Personally, I feel games ARE too expensive. But ,relatively, I don't see how something that looks as kinetic and polished and replayable as NBA jam could be of any less value than Metal Gear Solid 4.

There should be variable price points on games imo. The reality is the general public does not want to spend $60 dollars on all these titles.

Perhaps if more titles were funded at the appropriate level and budget and charged a relative price there wouldn't be so many bombs.

I love NBA Jam. But the days of me paying $60 dollars for it are over. (For what its worth I bought Jam on the PS 1 full price). Making a $60 NBA Jam is wasting your budget imo.

So for the mean time now there is currently no complete version of the game on any platform.

lol online on the Wii. No one cares.

The ironic thing is that since EA uses its own servers for its Wii games, they have free rein over how it is operated.  So there's nothing holding them back in that regard. Which makes me wonder if they've had a change of heart ever since they were so reluctant to comply with xbox live on the original xbox.

Have they said how this is going to be bundled for PS3 and 360? Is it on the same disk, or is it gonna be a redeemable code included in the package kind of deal? Wondering what my chances are of just snatching it up on eBay or something sans horrible NBA Live and the price tag that comes with it.

As stupid of a decision as it is to distribute it like this, I still wouldn't be averse to the idea of paying full retail price if it were bundled with, ya know, an actual video game and not some shitty annual sports sim
