Which is also the problem with GAF on the gaming side. The site has become about everything but actual game discussion. And when it is about the games, it's generally either solely in the possession of fanboys or people trolling the fanboys.
There is a place for blog news of the day type reporting but it pretty much has come to dominate gaming journalism when gaming journalism should ideally mostly be about actual game talk of the games themselves.
A big part of the problem is those huge official megathreads, which pen actual game talk into a linear space that doesn't suit it well. So when there is comparative discussion of games outside of those official threads, the whole thing devolves into fanboys using waging system wars by proxy, which is crap.
Official megathreads sort of suck as a tool of general discussion of games. They are good for engaging in conversation about a game you are currently playing or are interested in, but that's it-just a running conversation. Very poor format for debate or critical analysis IMO.
