Do these hyped-up announcements ever deliver?  :-\

Never forget that KojiPro build up, with like five different fucking countdowns, only to reveal ANOTHER MGS SPINOFF.

We actually got TWO spinoffs out of that debacle. :lol

well, screw you guys, i'll be online - thought this was a pretty huge announcement: best version of MH on the X360. It's massive.

Seeing as playing the JPN version and using English gets your account nuked and IP Banned, it'll be nice to not live in fear!

I assume we are going straight in at Season 7 too.... not read anything about that.

Hey dcharlie, what does frontier do in the MMO department to make it worth paying $15 a month over free MH2P on PSP?  I looked at the pics and it still looks limited to 4p coop in hunts?  I just don't get why they charge so much for Frontier.

Having the option for a single-player offline mode would've been nice. I also refuse to pay to play a game I've already paid for.

Are you exaggerating?  That is crazy.

i thought this was always known, hence why theres not a lot of info(IMO) about this game.

Only in Japan and Korea with everyone else IP banned.

though its crazy that they would go that far

It's an MMO, meaning I know nothing about it.

Hell, there could be an amazing Gundam MMO, and I wouldn't play it because I disagree with paying a monthly fee after buying the game.

That blows my mind that Capcom would outright ban people for using English.  I remember playing Everquest a long time ago and there was a Japanese guild on my server.  None of the members were fluent in English, but they were pretty nice and helpful (and one of the top guilds on the server!)

Oh ok.

I'm also on the same stance with the paying thing but since it was MH i was curious and checked up on it.

Hopefully Capcom offers a couple months free online for this game in the US.

if they had any sense (lol japan devs) they'd make it free for gold users, and offer the monthly fee which includes gold for silvers.

japan is already bonkers for MH, need to establish the brand in the US and not gouge the weeaboos

Anyone who is considering this a failure is forgetting that this was a 360 Japan announcement. Monster Hunter on 360 and not on PS3 is a big deal for 360 in Japan. Until you've seen how many people play this on PSP via wifi, you have no idea of how popular this COULD be. If this doesn't get J gamers to finally give Live a shot, nothing will. (yeah, it probably won't, only 2% of J 360 owners even have Live accounts at this stage :lol)

Just because you wanted it to some amazing new Western-oriented AAA franchise doesn't make this a failure.

I just wanted a new game from Capcom or a revival of an old franchise. :(

I wonder if this means we'll get a localized version of MH Frontier for the PC.

I just traded for MH Freedom Unite for the PSP after playing the demo and being seduced by the game's brutal, near-vertical learning curve.

MHFU's problem was the ridiculous controls too.  I sold it after 15 minutes of play.

You might still get it, I guess. But why would they announce THAT on Xbox Japan?

the controls were ok EXCEPT for the fucking camera.

MHFU's problem was the ridiculous controls too.  I sold it after 15 minutes of play.

That was my first reaction too, but after doing some reading up, I found that it's a somewhat necessary part of the design. Adjusting to the controls is the most painful part of the game's (steep) learning curve, but it is doable. I still sort of suck at it but there are online faqs and stuff to help someone get adjusted.

@Chronovore, Hmm, I wonder if Capcom would indeed make the same mistake they made with the Gamecube.

Does anyone know if Muramasa is a Wii exclusive?

:o Srsly? How can they rationalize that? If someone's paying legitimately for a Japanese account in any way shape or form, how do they rationalize booting them?

yeah, seems like a pretty easy case of THAT'S WACIST. If you got consumer advocacy groups to take a look at that, Capcom would surely get smacked around.

I used to play the Japanese MMO Master of Epic for a short time.  Since my main computer is using an English OS, I was unable to change my typing style in-game and could only communicate in romanji (although I could understand what they were saying and my romanji did make sense).  Man, if only I could count the times I would immediately be kicked from a group whenever I spoke up!  After awhile I stopped communicating outside of emoticons and Japanese netslang that used English characters, although I ended up quitting the game shortly afterwards.
