No one knows yet. The rumors are that is will have a unique user interface and be used a content delivery device for books, magazines, tv shows and movies.

I don't get it. This is the size of a laptop or netbook without being able to do actual work on it. If it's for quickly browsing the web or something, isn't that what the iphone is for? and for reading, it's not e-ink, so you won't have the clarity or battery life that those have. I don't get the practical application for this. Couldn't they just make an apple netbook with a swiveling screen?

well, it apparently has 10 (more like 4) hour battery life. that's not bad.

i'm not hating on apple, i have an ipod touch that i love

but hp slate runs windows 7 and is pretty much a handheld pc, you cannot deny that it will have more functionality and endless amounts of free software

I don't think Apple has that.

For what it's worth, I recently bought an 8GB iphone 3g for $99. I think that is a fair price.

i read off the touch i have, i just set the background to a lighter gray and turn the brightness down

it took a little while to get used to it, but it works fine for me now

It's part that and part how long the battery life is. I mean, other than the Nook that gets drained faster for having an LCD screen, they last a long time.

It takes a long time for me to get eyestrain from reading off a computer screen, but having used e-ink devices before, I would much prefer to read on them both in short and long stretches.

it's about what i wanted/expected out of it, a big nice handheld screen to read comics/web browse on while lying on the couch, play a game or two, maybe occasionally watch a video when i am out and about

specs-wise it seems fine to me, the disappointment will come with the rectum-bursting price tag

Eel, I'm honestly not seeing anything this does my netbook doesn't do nearly as well. I mean, you could say the same thing about the iPhone, but that has the size and device ubiquity working for it. This, I'd rather just carry around my netbook. There's no Category Killer app for this.
