Played it today. The game isn't as bad as I thought. It's actually worse.
It's no Bayo... I'm really not feeling it. I'll try again later.
Is there anything I should know? How does the scoring work? Should I be zipping and zooming around? Why does my suit overheat after a few seconds? Where is my health?
Don't worry about scoring yet. And yes, almost always be moving.
The energy gauge is basically everything. Boosting, slowing down time, your health, and melee all use it. Well, I say health but it's really the safety mode that turns on when you're about to die. You have to learn how much damage you take by feel.
Melee uses up the entire energy bar. If you boost and use melee, you have a brief moment in mid-air where you can aim and go into slow-mo. If you melee normally, it just empties it. Melee shouldn't be used if the bar is full or if you're engaging a group of enemies. From what I can tell, even a sliver of health will let you do the same melee attack as full.
Slowing down time is handled by aiming whenever you do a high speed action. Boosting, dodging, vaulting over cover, and things like that will trigger slow-mo if you hold down the aim button. Also, don't just sit around in slow mo firing at an enemy. You can hit dodge while aiming, it will take you out of slow mo for a moment, and helps you manage your boost and avoiding attacks that may reach you in time.
Other things worth noting:
-you switch weapons instantly. You don't even need to stop holding down the right trigger; just press another direction on the d-pad to instantly fire the next weapon.
-pressing the boost button behind cover makes your character smoke and toss the cigarette. The cigarette draws enemy attention away from you letting you boost behind and flank them.
-teammates also draw enemy fire and you can heal them if they are hurt.
