Ford seemed to turnaround as soon as I left.

Coincidence? I think not.

My favorite is my 4x4 F 150.  Take that fucker off roading.  It's a fucking beast.

Also, the 4.6l block that has been in the Mustang GT's for awhile (until the 2011 model, it goes back to 5.0).  Those fucking motors are rock fucking solid.  Fords are just generally tough fuckers.  Compared to Chevy's, they might not always be as purty or have as much HP, but it sure as hell beats a Chevy when it's still running 10 years later ;)

I'm not sure why everyone thinks that the public is going to suddenly love Fords.  I would buy a Honda/Hyundai or lease a Volkswagen before I bothered getting an American car.

Might be the double-digit sales gains tipping them off.

When is the last time Ford, or even GM, fell behind VW in a quality survey? 2002 maybe?

I don't have anything against American cars. My first car was a 1992 Ford Escort that lasted me through college and graduate school. Poor thing finally kicked the bucket last February.

My Mazda 626 that had a stuck spark plug I couldn't remove, cracked windshield, broken taillight and turn signal, bad starter and ate belts like Kim Kardashian's ass eats thongs is still kicking somewhere.  The people I sold it to never got it out of my name and they got a parking ticket downtown last week.

I have an American made Corolla. The Sienna is American made too. Honda has not always had rock solid cars, but still more reliable then the eurocrap. I had two Honda before, both had recalls for transmission issues. I had a friend who kept her Pilot and it has Transmission problems.

That motor was used in way more then just the mustang. I had a thunderbird with that motor. Awesome motor. I still think the Yamaha motor in my SHO was way more kick ass.

Yeah, the motor is also used in some light trucks.  Ford has had it for a while and it's just a solid fucking design.

My favorite motor was actually a Ford designed motor in my Mazda 626.  That fucking thing would not quit.  I didn't change the oil in it for over 2 years (I was actually trying my hardest to kill it!).

I'll take NPR's fluff piece interviewing university scholars who are comparing Dante's poem to the game over what the networks give us.

I realize this is a huge recall, but did the media ever go after the other car makers like this on previous recalls? Everyone seems really happy to stick it to Toyota. Can't really blame them, though, we'd do anything to help boost our economy right now.

I haven't much been paying attention to this (other than curiosity about the poster child for QA/QC allowed a major thing like this to slip through) so haven't really experienced the media freakout, but nothing the press likes more than taking someone down a notch from their lofty position.

Aren't they mostly shutting down operations in the US, though? It might be good for GM or some shit, but major businesses closing down plants ain't great.

If by operator you mean plastic intake manifold.

:piss Ford :piss2
Meh.

The LS2 and LS3 (C6 Corvette) engines also have plastic intake manifolds.  The plastic intake manifold issue has been overblown IMO.  The first castings that Ford did had issues that caused them to crack, but they have since been corrected.  It's usually the import people just whining about "omg american cars are plastic" again.

i didn't say blown over!  i said overblown!  you just wanted to rearrange it for your own amusement!

My BMW made Mini Cooper is known for having several TSB's for the factory using the wrong size head gasket which causes overheating, head warping and bad bearings.  Oh yeah... and the inside of the water pump is plastic which causes failure at less than 20,000 miles.  You can play this game with almost any car manufacturer  :smug
