I remember hearing that some professional SC players in Korea and the US complained about the feel of the game with respect to professional play (macros for instance), but that was awhile ago; I'd imagine Blizzard has tuned things a lot since then.
you're probably referring to 'macro' which is shorthand for 'macro management', the economic side to an RTS game.
The big fusses I've seen mostly have revolved around the potential change in character of the races (each race in SC has its own strengths and weaknesses, and their own play style) and the macro management mechanic each race has, which essentially adds a component of "you need to pay attention and use these abilities frequently for an optimal economy', which has always seemed a sort of wobbly thing. Right now Zerg has the queen which can instantly spawn 3 larvae every so often at a hatchery (more units!), Protoss has a time accelerator thingy that increases building or research speed (ya so they can get DTs out faster
) and Terran probably has this MULE thing which will be a pain in the butt to use, clunky, but really powerful because that's the Terran Way.
My APM will never get back to its glory days but I am cruising around 150 APM/ 120 EAPM right now in SCBW and that should be enough for C style play. I might even get better over time and a little bit faster (and I'd be in much better shape if I played Protoss instead of Terran, which requires higher APM).
