I love dummied-out stuff in games... why didn't anyone tell me Xenoblade has this absolutely massive area that was 90% completed that was removed from the game? Amazing...

I guess Kojima has Sdatcher
Yeah but how awesome would it be for him to actually make a current gen Snatcher or some other type of game. It would be extremely cool. The man obviously has cool ideas and his team is talented, but sadly they are wasted on a shitty series that is tired and needs to die.

I had no idea the NY Review of Books wrote about STALKER of all fucking things last year
http://www.nybooks.com/blogs/nyrblog/2012/may/01/zone-chernobyl-tarkovsky-video-game/

Quote
None of this cinematic intensity or psychological depth remains in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games, which have subpar graphics, horrid writing, abysmal voice-acting, tasteless menus, and tediously clichéd music. Tarkovsky’s enigmatic title has been turned into a ridiculous acronym (“Scavenger, Trespasser, Adventurer, Loner, Killer, Explorer, Robber,”) and the series is ridden with technical glitches, even after a host of corrective delays and patches.

in 2012, i'd agree.  in 2007 when the first game was released, i'd disagree

That quote made it seem like the reviewer hated STALKER, but that's not really the case.

I think the current belief/rumor is alpha/beta in March. I figured they'd launch full on in July and do the same content rollout a year behind the JP version but we'd have the original and forthcoming recolors of their AC scratch outfits so slightly earlier than expected if true?  SoA's not communicating with us at all about what's going on. Hell, Sega JP would have the odd Engrish message for the international crowd on Facebook. There's a patch for the basic stuff and a story one forthcoming if you're sick of Sega's western branch sitting on their thumbs. Items will forever remain in katakana and such though since that info is server side. Ought to just get a printout of said alphabet and keep it handy until I learn that stuff. I semi knew Al Bhed by the end of FFX so figure the runes can be deciphered too.

That's good news.  I downloaded the Japanese version back during open beta, but could not get past the language barrier.  At this point, I'm just waiting for the English version.  And since Sega is buddy buddy with Valve, it'll definitely be on Steam and I can trade my TF2 hats for :uguu outfits.

I just realized that we haven't had a mainline Sonic come out in more than a year and that I actually enjoyed the last one.

What is this world coming to?

SEGA passed their Sonic AIDS to Bioware during the production of Sonic Chronicle.

I see we're just gonna pretend like Sonic 4 never happened.

Haha, man. Check out the descipsh on this game:

Bientôt l’été is a videogame for two players. Two players who pretend to be lovers. They pretend to be lovers separated from each other by lightyears of deep space. They have lonely walks along the shore of a simulated ocean, thinking wistful thoughts of each other. Thoughts from ancient Earth literature by Marguerite Duras.

The empty beach, the strong wind, the gentle music and a small colony of electric seagulls are their only companions. Yet their heart is full and their mind confused. Walk along the shore, until they meet the emptiness.

When it all becomes too much, they run towards each other. Enabled by intergalactic networks, they touch each other’s holographic bodies in cyberspace. A surreal game of chess becomes the apparatus through which they, man and woman, can talk. The words they have were given to them, as they have always been to lovers everywhere.

The sea remains, tugging at their hearts when not at their hairs and clothes, as it itself is tugged by the virtual moon. And as great as the desire for the other may be, they cannot stay away from the wind and the waves and the sand. Every time they find a new treasure. An abandoned tennis field. An heap of coal. A dead dog. Ordinary. Absurd. Meaningless. Yet comforting.

Enter a café, exit a villa, enter a casino, exit the ruin of an ancient colonial mansion. We know this is not real. So it doesn’t surprise us. Nothing surprises us. It doesn’t matter when you feel the pain of love. Of being in love, of falling in love, of leaving in love. There is no such thing as time. There is only love. And it never stops. No matter how much it hurts.

grabbed ss2.  it's got the widescreen and high res mods packed in, so it functions fairly well

unfortunately the UI is tiny at 1080p and you'll have to rebind the keys to make things a bit more standard (turn left is Q and strafe left is A for example)

I nabbed it too.  I've never played it before, but GOG and everybody is making a huge deal out of it, so I had to pick it up.  I did training and chose to join the OSA.   Now I have to pick one of the sub-specializations, but I'm gonna look those up first before I jump in.

already picked up on about a hundred Bioshock similarities, but I'm liking this environment and setting so much better.  It also just seems like it'll be a more interesting game since you have RPG stats and class choices, obviously.  This is kind of what I hope from Cyberpunk.  It's definitely an old-looking and sort of old-controlling game, but it only took a little messing around to get it down.  It doesn't look so bad if you think of it as a game better looking than N64, but sub-Dreamcast.  You get the info you need from the environment, but not everything is highlighted gold, bringing up context sensitive buttons when I approach it.  I like that a lot!  Not sure when I'll get around to the game, but its on my radar.

Same composer as P4 in all the SMT games, but zero jpop in any of them.  It's darker stuff with some metal, prog, some techno, classical, ambient mixed.   Nocturne has the best OST, but the DDS games have great OSTs also.  It doesn't sound super out-dated, like when the japanese do hip hop and pop.

Digital Devil Saga 2 has a really great techno rock soundtrack. DDS1 is kind of more mellow and atmospheric rock. Nocturne is kind of a mix of both. All 3 are pretty fantastic either way, game wise and soundtrack wise.

Didn't care for Valkyrie Profile's soundtrack, but I remember the the final boss battle music(I think, the dude with the awesome defeat quotes) was cool.

i got a disc copy off amazon for less than $5.  haven't played it yet though.  From what I understand, either do stealth or don't play the game, but that the dialog/choice system actually does significantly affect where you go/what you do, unlike ME's meaningless choice after choice.   Supposed to be well-written too, like a lot of obsidian games.

edit: actually, I could just send you the disc or something.  or we could say I sent the disc and you can just torrent it :lol
