Oscar, can you explain what Konami is doing? At least with Square Enix we see them pump out tonnes of phone games. Are Konami making a tonne of phone games too, but no one in the west cares to even report on them? Have they sent all of the game developers to KojiPro and PES? Did a bunch of people get laid off so Konami can fully transition into a fitness centre business?

Nippon Ichi have been teasing a new PlayStation Vita game with clues of “gold” and “beautiful woman”. This week’s issue of Famitsu reveals the game as Oedo Blacksmith or Great Edo Blacksmith, a title with erotic elements. (Thanks, Game-Jouhou)

In Great Edo Blacksmith, the protagonist is a swordsmith, and only has one year remaining to live. The goal is to make money as a swordsmith and fall in love with a girl. The main part of the game revolves around making and selling swords and decorations. In order to gather material to make the goods, you’ll need to step into dungeons to mine minerals.
There are battles in the dungeons, and you’ll need to get help from hired allies to take them on. Great Edo Blacksmith also has some sort of “touching” feature with girls in the game. Here are the girls who’ve been introduced thus far:

Sayaka (voiced by Izumi Chiba) has the trademark style of a sideways ponytail. She’s positive but somewhat of a klutz.
Asaka (voiced by Shizuka Tsuji) doesn’t know much about business talk. While she’s quite the articulate girl, she also has a cute side to her that goes over well with customers.
Yugiri (voiced by Shizuka Ito) has an attractive face, figure, and good looks overall, but she’s clumsy and tends to be a pessimist

According to Nippon Ichi, Great Edo Blacksmith is targeted at men in their 20s. It will have a fair share of erotic elements, as the company would like to turn it into a franchise similar to Criminal Girls.
Great Edo Blacksmith will be released in Japan on November 27, 2014 for PlayStation Vita.

Each of the five ships present in Yager’s E3 demo has very different performance and special abilities, all of which roughly line up with those that you’d expect to see in a more traditional class-based shooter. They’ve all got primary and secondary fire weapons, as well as four different cooldown-managed abilities assigned to hotkeys. Players also have the ability to re-route power on the fly with each ship, beefing up shields, engines, or weapons at the cost of lowered effectiveness for the two systems power diverts away from.

Let’s take a look at the five ships:

Destroyer: The Destroyer is Dreadnought‘s well-rounded capital ship; it doesn’t excel in any one category, but its decent speed/maneuverability, shielding, and offensive/defensive capabilities make it effective in virtually any role.

Dreadnought: The Dreadnought is a powerful tank class, with its heavy armor and weapons loadout balanced by the slowest speed and maneuverability of the five ships revealed so far.

Corvette: The speedy, lightly armored Corvette is your scout class, able to zip behind enemy lines, both to feed intel to the rest of the team and for flanking maneuvers.

Tactical: The pristine, white armor of the Tactical cruiser stands apart from the darker metals making up the other ship classes, and that helps players to easily identify it as the go-to medic. It’s not a very hardy fighter, but it’s got a couple of different options when it comes to repairing damaged teammates.

Artillery: The gun-shaped Artillery cruiser is Dreadnought‘s sniper class. It fires slowly and crumbles quickly under fire, but its damaging attacks maintain pinpoint accuracy at the most extreme distances.

I recently ripped out the time capacitor on my modded Xbox, after reading that GAF thread about it.

There was some leakage, and some corrosion, but I turned it on just now and it works fine.

Only 160GB so not many games (I modded this like 8 years ago), so I'm gonna just stack it with the exclusives and a third party game or two.

Gonna do it with my second unmodded box and look into softmodding it.

This is a good insight into the stories of Bioshock, B:Infinite, and its DLC. I'm still unwilling to play B:Infinite through to its conclusion because it's boring as hell and has streamlined its own gameplay conceits into something are internally nonsensical, but it's calming to think that maybe there is a coherent narrative thread bringing a beloved character some closure.

Project Mirai games, even though the second one is coming to the US later this year. Only other games I can think of are the DQ games (maybe the Rocket Slime game since it's not really an RPG?) and Beyond the Labyrinth but those of course are RPGs.

I gave AC IV another chance.  I'm pleasantly surprised.  I don't have to tear down wanted posters anymore (yet).  I fucking hated that addition to the games.  And the assassin mechanics work quite well when you're boarding ships and whatnot.  The scenery change is also nice.  It works well with the game and isn't terrible like 3.  This will probably be the first one I finish since 2.

Square Enix announced their Gamescom line-up this morning, and mentioned in their press release that the smartphone version of Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen will be released in the West.

Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen on smartphones is a port of the Nintendo DS remake of the game. It includes the extra content from that version, such as the bonus story chapter. It also has a quick save feature and five combat speed options.

The game will be released for both iOS and Android devices.

Other games that Square is taking to Gamescom include: Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix, Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris, Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call, Dragon Quest VIII for smartphones, Nosgoth and Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.

Um. If they're putting DQIV on smartphones chances are they may be working on a dq7 mobile port. Magus, they're going in sequential order, starting from 1 and now they're on IV when it comes to ios ports. You think they're just going to let 7 sit after all the effort remaking it?
