Was this posted here already? Man, it sounds like they're banking on the F2P Windows version to save them, but WOW, just about everything I've come to loathe about the auteur theory applied to mid-tier talent applies.

It's bizarre that Nintendo of Japan bankrolled it. I have no clue why.

But in any case, they need to get that single-player on Steam so I can buy it on Steam sale and see how dook it is.

From what I've heard of the multiplayer the F2P may be semi-successful in a "so bad it's good" way.

It's interesting and sad at the same time that most modern people who play games have no idea who Tri-Ace is. Like in the sales thread on Neogaf about Exist Archive bombing and Tri-Ace probably going out of business after Star Ocean V, hardly anyone cares and I suspect it's because most people age 15-25 have no idea who Tri-Ace is since they basically disappeared after the first couple of years of the X360/PS3 with Infinite Undiscovery & SO4 which were both kind of bad and RoF which was awesome but totally under the radar.

Such a huge contrast from the PS2 days when Tri-Ace was known by everyone as one of the big deal rpg developers up there with Konami (Suikoden), SE, and Namco (Tales). It always helped that they were the best tech programmers on the PS2 so their games blew everyone away visually. Isn't there a hack or something to run Valkyrie Profile 2 at like 720p or something?

I may have to buy Stink Ocean just to support them. I cannot stand SO aside from 2.

I remember trying to get into RoF and while I enjoyed the eightish or so hours I played the battle system seemed needlessly complex to me. Great art and cool setting though.

Ult version comes with 4 dlc expansions. Only one of the expansions I'd consider to be ass. One of them has a weak start but ends excellently. The other two are excellent as well. You also get more weapons to buy and other content as well.

Definitely go with the Ultimate edition, well worth it. All 4 DLC expansions are big.

Also, the DLC raises the level cap and new perks from each DLC are added right when you start a new game. You don't need to play the DLCs to unlock the perks, they're simply added to the list of available or unlockable perks.

ROF is one of those games where, once it clicks, it clicks and you'll be steamrolling the rest of the game. Was probably my #2 RPG last gen...

Nah, I just plugged it in and it was good to go. Worked in both Retroarch and standalone Mednafen. Shocked the hell out of me when it came up as "Human Interface Device"

My xbone is being a piece of shit. It was taking forever to load a match in battlefront, so I quit the game, now it keeps giving game took too long to load errors trying to start it, can't get it to run any game at the moment. And yes I've hard rebooted several times at this point

It's ok. As a fan of horror and these types of games I was a little underwhelmed and disappointed by the "choices". I thought Heavy Rain did it much better. My opinion definitely goes against the majority though and even with my problems with the game I'd still say it's worth about $20 and a playthrough.

Why is the d-pad dead center in the controller? They took the borked 64 controller and made it equally as stupid but for different reasons.

IS the Withcer 3 the big game of last year for people with shit taste to complain about? I constantly see these threads claiming the combat and gameplay was bad. What? Was it a little janky? Sure. Was it terrible? Not in a world that accepts the combat of Bethesda and Bioware. It's no Bloodborne or Ys, but whats there to me was never on auto pilot. Sure, it involved a lot of rolling around, but at least the game most of the time asked you to keep paying attention as enemies were aggressive and you really had to wait for chances to attack and parry. The abilities were good for crowd control and as a whole the game never felt like the combat was something to ignore.
