Something like a story mode would've been interesting. Starting as someone that races in city streets, moving onto racing at tracks where you can independently register or sign up, onto professional racing outright.

Or even a owner mode where you manage a racing team. Decide what vehicles to get for your team, which drivers to hire, pit crew/mechanics, competing for sponserships.

Honestly, it really didn't help TOCA. I mean it was nice, but when a racer is stale (even if the core driving isn't), it's stale.

Beat Shadowrun: Returns. What a delightfully Shadowrun ending. 8)

As a fan of unintentional humor, very little beats Shadowrun imo. Even after seeing ork police officers a bunch of times they still cracked me up. And the Tir Tairngire special forces guys were :delicious

Maybe I'll start Dragonfall next. It was pretty hilarious talking with a German chap about dragons.

What the fuck happened?
Guess they're not starting you off with a used clunker in this one. Also, this may as well be called Forza.

Yeah it has 130 cars and 30 tracks, or so they said (please correct me) ? Honestly it was perhaps the best thing to do to get rid of all the terrible baggage the series was carrying in GT5 and 6 (though it is a spin off title, who knows what they'll do with GT7). I loved the feeling of GT5 but honestly couldn't be arsed to grind a garage, as a potential future PS4 owner, I'm way more interested by a more pick up and play semi sim. If the final release date is not delayed, trimming all that fat managed to get Sony biggest franchise only three years in the cycle of their current console, and with a livery editor at last.  :lol

They ran a live stream of it and it was an absolute trainwreck. They were running a game over LAN and cars still had lag and warping. Even the live stream had massive slowdown and screen tear and the game doesn't look all that hot in the first place. Also the vacuum car sounds are back, somehow.

I guess at least they are getting the beta out in November.

It was still like that in 5 and 6. And then they hired someone who used to be on Forza's sound team and it's still like that for GT Sport.

The stans at gaf are howling mad and trying to convince people it doesn't look and sound awful. Even though Project CARS easily eats it for breakfast in visuals. Even if it's a youtube cap, this is the difference in builds. What a mess.

Its weird how Gran Turismo used to be THE prolific racing game on consoles. And now its just another sim racer thrown onto the pile. The franchise needed a huge overhaul or direction change after Gran Turismo 5.

They kinda tried that with the B-Spec mode, but in the end it felt shallow and gimmicky, like pretty much all of the extraneous stuff in GT5. The problem with a "manager mode" is that GT was never a robust enough sim of actual motor competitions (licenced or imaginary) to really support it, IMHO.

For all the shit we gave GT, I'm not certain the core tenets of the franchise are so outdated. It has gotten a bit stale and tired, but there was no helping that once GT wasn't the only game in town anymore. I'm sure the franchise will continue to sell decently no matter what, if only by virtue of the PS4 leading the market...

Ultimately the loss of good will lies completely with Polyphony and just how warped its dev process seems to be : The car sounds still being a laughing stock after a decade of fan demands is one of the major examples and you'll find similar complaints about IA, damage model & collision physics, no livery editor, the absence of line starts & real qualifying or a solid online (though GT6 online mode apparently tried to adress those latter issues)... despite PD promises and the standard set by competition. Plus the scandalous asset disparity and planning management. But heh INSANE PHOTO MODE !

The new UI is jarring (I actually liked the UI in Returns, it reminded me of the isometric Fallouts) but the world is a lot more vibrant and really embraces the whole anarchic flavor of Shadowrun's Berlin. I think I played until 4 this morning? :lol

Also I named my runner Mother Courage and the dialog is unintentionally cracking me up almost as much as having a Troll who was once a member of the KSK on my team.

Watching the gaf and gtplanet circlejerk trying to convince themselves it looks "Amazing" because the trackside assets are slightly different than Project CARS despite that game having full dynamic weather, time of day, atmospheric simulation etc is insane. Or even Assetto Corsa or Forza 6 Apex on PC (Especially now the arch enemy is a PC game). We've already gone from "Sony closed down Evolution for this" to "No wait it's the best looking racer on the planet and it will look better cuz it's only a 50% build get mad pc gamers and xbots". Six months off and the game performs like a dog and looks nothing special in game and has less content than the prequels. Granted, Polyphony dug their own grave on having to remake everything since they didn't bother with GT5 and 6. But there's no way they are going to get within sniffing distance of PCARS looks and feature set wise. Apparently car damage is in but the physics are probably going to be ass going off the stream. Still, game looks bad and shouldn't have been shown in this state. I'll probably skip this despite owning the first six GT games.

But then it's a reminder that GT fanboys are the fucking worst, only just behind Souls and Naughty Dog stans in being irritating wankers.

You're late yo.  S2 sold HoN about a year ago to Garena who created an American development studio (Frostburn Studios) that works on the game.  They hired the former S2 staff who were still working on HoN.

Pretty sure HoN is dead everywhere but Thailand where, iirc, it's the most popular MOBA in that country.

I don't need it to be silent really, but I know that if I get one, red switches are the quiet ones.

The machine gun clatter of Cherry blues is cute at first, but soon enough you'll want to beat the person to death with their keyboard. Cost is only one reason Model M and other spring switch keyboards sank into obscurity.

That said, there are things you can do to quiet them down, main thing being rubber O-rings. I think Cherry is now offering a silent switch as well.

I got over my mechanical keyboard obsession without actually buying one myself. +1 for poverty aided maturity, I suppose. Now I'm looking for a compact scissor switch keyboard with the right array of media keys. I hope this white whale will elude me, because I know I will feel foolish if I actually buy one.

Reds have the lightest activation point, so they're kind of the opposite of a keyboard smashers switch. It's why they're the go-to gaming switch.

No Man's Sky to be delayed according to Kotaku, which would make sense since we haven't seen much anything recently despite a planned release mid-June. Don't care either way, but I will echo some gaffers that the timing of the marketing around that game is a bit weird and may have peaked in summer 2015 for some reason...

I'm trying to decide between getting Doom or Overwatch since my budget only allows for one $40 to $60 video game every month or two.

I guess I'll go with Doom because I'm in a time in my life where I can't really dedicate hours upon hours towards getting gud at a multiplayer only shooter.

Dungeon traversal gets pretty repetitive and the 3D combat is a bit janky but I'd say go for it. The town building is very fun, upgrading your weapons are addicting, and the item creation system (where you take pictures of items to make new recipes) is innovative. Plus there's a whole host of minigames, some stupid, others addicting (like a take on Golf). You'll probably know if you like it after the first few hours.

The dungeons were always the worst part of the Dark Cloud games. They were always really simply designed and then repeated over and over with little variation, made me want to blast through them as quickly as possible to get to more town building.
