Yeah, the moneymaker is the online ProAm and MyTEAM things that I've never really fucked with, buying shoes and clothes and shit while maxing out your players' ratings and badges. The MyCAREER mode is the only thing that gets really hit by that and is mostly held back by the fact that it uses the same currency that they've increasingly limited amounts you get for doing things causing grind.

Since I don't bother with any of the stuff they're monetizing in the first place it hasn't bothered me too much other than laughing at some of the stupid things as I come across them. Like I usually do a MyCAREER and also play through a season with some team. The latter only got slightly altered this year because they put leaderboards in the mode where you have to manage personalities/egos/etc. of the team but that was never really a problem anyway so I was fine dropping it and playing the entirely equivalent mode without that feature.

The MyCAREER story is really stupid this year though and a huge letdown, last year was the pinnacle to date by far despite the fact that your player was nicknamed and called AI like there already isn't somebody with that nickname in NBA history. The mode once you get out of the story is quite nicely improved in a few areas though.

Is it sad I’d buy a year of psnow just to stream PAIN on my pc? I think I was the only one who liked that game on PS3.

But seriously with psnow/gamepass all I need now is Nintendo to go streaming too and I’ll have all bases covered with a gaming pc and streaming services for whatever couple of console exclusives interest me in the future. Hell I’d even buy a stadia game if it was actually impressive with power needed that’s impossible with local processing and not just their current sales pitch of “you can play this game that you can already play locally except it’s blurrier, laggier, unmoddable, and critically dependent on a stable connection.“

I knew streaming was gonna invalidate consoles first. Thank god pc gaming has no central platform holder to pull the rug out on it’s users. Except for the windows OS I guess , but valve has been chipping away slowly at that with Linux and proton support, and Microsoft admitted defeat on win32 vs uwp and Microsoft store exclusivity. So I think pc gamers can breath easier for another 5-10 years until Microsoft tries fucking around again there.

Dude, a code for PAIN came with my 80 GB MGS4 PS3 (RIP ;_;), and I played the ever loving shit out of it for some fucking reason. Pretty sure it was also the first game I ever bought DLC for. I bought this one character named Tati or something that was the literal personification of the dummy thicc meme ten years beforehand. You could do a taunt with her when you fling her where you can hear the clap of her ass cheeks. I fucking bought DAVID HASSLEHOFF as a character. I bought maybe two more areas/levels too.

I didn’t even like the game that much. I finally weened off the game once a few more worthwhile full games were released.

2008 was a weird fucking time, bro…
