Glad FF is coming to PC game pass. I figured Square would make them console only for some dumb reason.
Square is really pushing the remasters on PC, FF in general is getting some PC love as they've been open about putting some more of the mobile titles directly on PC because apparently there's a fairly large fanbase that emulates them already. I forget which game it is but if you look at the Reddit for it, it's almost all people emulating the game on PC since it had no real West release for some time. And still spending real money on the game. Also the straight FF ports they updated with achievements and for Windows 10 apparently did way better than they expected, same with FF XIV's relaunch. They've even been doing lots of little stuff for FF XV "Windows Edition" that the Square from like four years ago would have just dumped on Steam and ran.
One rumor I came across was that Japan is letting Square Enix West (the former Edios) make more decisions with this stuff similar to when SquareEA existed and EA said "nah breh, seriously you can sell this shit in the US" so they were porting everything over on PS1 for a while. The whole Japanese movement to port everything onto Steam that's taken off also has been really selling these companies on the market. The big companies see the smaller niche stuff selling like crazy and then their own Western titles are also doing well, so it breaks that ice.
I still don't know why they announced MCC on pc so early.
They had a whole plan that they scrapped within weeks.
I feel like I’ve read about tons of cool looking overly pretty Korean games that never made it to release.
Korean companies are still quite a bit behind on localization efforts. And if it flops in Korea they'll can it totally. Especially if they don't have a joint-publisher even from Japan.
