I don't think it's the cable because when i unplug the display port from the screen (but keep the screen on) it still has the whole left side of the screen with red lines.

Also, just checked my order date, and the warranty (2 years) expired, like, 2 weeks ago.
Now, i'm not saying it's a big fucking conspiracy, but...
:thinking :derp :hans1

In that case open up and see if the plug connecting the panel and board hasn't gotten loose.

Yeah, tomorrow i'll look into some guide or something to see how to open it up and see WTF is going on.

EDIT: Fug, i tapped the screen and it went away by itself.  :doge
Maybe it'll come back, but it makes me think that you're on to something with some connection being loose, Nintex.

Ok, it's definitely something to do with the power cable, because the problem comes and goes when i fiddle with it.
It could've come somewhat loose today, since my cat always passes behind there, maybe they pulled it a bit.

i got to try a setup like that and it was the most fun I'd had in years. i flew off the road and hit the brakes and my whole body seized up like real life, til it realized i wasn't in any actual danger. couldn't believe how intense it felt.

Yup. I can't actually have fun playing sim-racing games with controllers. You either play with tons of assists or you don't and feel hampered by the sticks. A permanent set-up like this would be great, but I don't have the room for it.

Today my monitor decided to start doing this shit all over (i know it's the monitor, because it does so even when i unplug the Display Port from the PC).
What could it be?

I've had that happen on a monitor. Was caused by the internal display connector not contacting fully (can be exacerbated by humidity IIRC). In my case it was known where in the monitor the connection resided and a firm but quick whack to the plastic monitor housing there or in a particular spot on the front would resolve it (sometimes took a few attempts). The alternative was taking the monitor apart but cba.

The one guy who mentioned he played Rygar was interesting, I mean if you've only played one game before in the past, I'd imagine it would have been something a bit more iconic like Pac Man or Pong or Space Invaders.

Pakistan probably wasn't getting the hot new titles, so it makes some sense that it would be a game that's more obscure.

I don't think it was his only game. Same guy mentions it was 1990 and that he had played Mario before and as he starts to play he totally remembers the level and mechanics of the power-ups. I figure he actually played more games as a kid but just Rygar was his favorite. Another guy seems to start to remember the level too as he notes the flag is coming up.

That fat dude who talked a bunch about wrestling also seems to have played some games before as he's holding and using the controller pretty properly.

I thought this was interesting in terms of the age thing not just with the guys, you can see the younger women also liking it more and figuring it out better, while the one older woman you can tell wants no part of it after dying immediately and the other is kinda baffled.

Really makes you think how they're just like us in so many ways. :hmm

My coworker, who's about a year older than me, grew up in rural India and he told me he had a pirated Famiclone growing up, his favorite games were Contra and the Mario titles - it's so interesting how universal this stuff is, even though for most of my life I always thought gaming was mainly a Japan/US/Western Europe (mainly UK) thing. Pete Dorr (retro youtuber who's local, met him a few times in person) has a cool video about the gaming scene in India:

If any of yall have old games sitting in your closet and want to make some money, the reseller market seems to be popping right now. I think people are itching to waste their Coronabux on old videogames.

Chibi Robo seems to have jumped up to about $150 on eBay for whatever reason ... ?

That's just one example of course

Crisis Core on PSP went up as well - FF7R probably helped with that.

Interview with Hiromichi Tanaka and Koichi Ishii about FF3, in honor of the game's 30th anniversary. Good stuff for one of the most underrated games in the franchise (Famicom version that is, the DS version's not that great)

https://na.finalfantasy.com/topics/171

Quote
Oh, and as for something that we had trouble with making FFIII, there’s one good story. Right in the middle of development our main programmer Nasir Gebelli’s visa expired. He was living in a rental condo in Aoyama at the time, but he moved from there back to America. [laughs]
We still had about two months until the master of the game would be ready, so we said, “Well, what else can we do? Let’s go to him,” and packed up the PC and NES and all that and went to the United States. Obviously we were a bunch of Japanese people with all this suspicious technology, and Mr. Sakaguchi got held up in customs at San Francisco. The rest of us said we were there for business and got in just fine, but maybe he told the agent he was just sightseeing or something. [laughs]

Akala you little twerp. Your post made me think that there was some character reveal or something.

On a side note. Jet Set Radio, that's cool if it makes a resurgence. Where is my Skies of Arcadia remaster? Preferably based on the Gamecube version just for the sake of random encounter numbers. I'm sure they can hype it up as some lost Dreamcast treasure or whatever as far as nostalgia goes.

My worry (not even worry, more like question) is why they'd want to do another? If it's just because they're scraping the bottom of the barrel for IPs to use, then i can see it turn out like a completely soulless "parody" of the previous games.
But if someone in the development team really does have an idea, or a twist on the formula, of course i'd like them to go ahead with it.

The jump from JSR to JSRF was pretty massive, in terms of style and core design changes, which, like it or not, to me means that they had an idea to bring forward, instead of just trying to "do another".

And of course, Smilebit is no more, right? So i'm not sure who'd be behind it.

for 2 til syndicate its mostly buying loot upgrades from shops so there's a progression there but not loot drops. you also upgrade your home base/city/ship/whatever and there's more weapons to use. in brotherhood you get a posse you can summon to take dudes out too, which is pretty cool.

3 and 4 have crafting added and 4 adds ship battles which i liked but some didn't dig very much. unity adds french people so that's a huge minus but ac: rogue was the better of the two games released that year anyway. i didn't finish and barely remember syndicate but iirc the big addition in that was two playable characters.

origins and odyssey are much different than the rest and i believe more in the new ubisoft everygame style

I was so turned off by the 1st I have ignored the series ever since.

But have considered trying the more recent ones;  the 1st one was like a super polished engine demo that forgot to be a game.

I haven't played the series other than a few hours of 1 and maybe about 30 minutes of 4, but I really enjoyed Odyssey. Lots of good content-tourism, some decent characters, fun combat and stealth mechanics.

Quite similar in game play structure and also a 'systems' game.
Instead of bases in MGS you have forts and camps n AC. A lot of similarities in the game design.

Modern AC is a blend of MGS5, The Witcher 3 and in Odyssey they added some Wind Waker into the mix.

I enjoyed the gameplay of MGSV enough to put 35 hours into it. But eventually it bored me too much. Assasisns Creed never holds my attention for even close to that long, everything just feels sloppy to me when playing those games, nothing that feels truly satisfying in any sense. Even The Witcher 3's gameplay feels better for me, and that certainly isnt the games strong suit.

You mean it's a mix of Far Cry 3 (Taking over enemy forts/bases), Assassins Creed Black Flag(The assassin part and sailing), and Mass Effect Andromeda(Where all the NPC's are meaningless set dressing to fill the game and the lightest of rpg elements).
What
