Gamestop has a Buy 2 Get 1 Free Sale on their pre-owned games. I was thinking about picking up Demon's Souls (PS3), 3D Dot Game Heroes (PS3), and Deadly Premonition (Xbox 360) but I'm not sure. It'd be like $35 with my Edge card but I'm still on the fence of whether or not I want to buy them.

I watched the QuickLook on ilomilo yesterday. I wish I could've seen some later levels since the stuff they showed looked like really boring-easy puzzle stuff.

Hmmm.

Love: FF4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 12, tactics, x-2
Like: FF7, 10, 11, Tactics Advance
It's Okay: Mystic Quest
Meh: FF1, 2, 3, 13

So I guess not.

Even my least liked FF, FF13, has moments where I genuinely enjoyed it.

Bejeweled 3 is alot of fun, but I can't comprehend paying $20 for it.  Hopefully it is 50% off during Steam's holiday sale.

I thought tactics advance was pretty bad. The interface was clunky, often finding the thing you wanted was 4 menus deep. That and some other things I forget made the game not fun for me.

I love me some of the sequel though. Dual screens of info was my savior.

It has alot of game modes and stuff.  There is also a pseudo leveling system so you can grind levels.  :o

The sequel was much better, Magus. They refined everything from the interface to the controls to the classes and added a bunch of cool new features like the auction houses. I couldn't stand the first game but was highly satisfied with the second.

edit: about the ff9 esque system. I enjoyed it, buuuuuutt don't be surprised if you go a LONG time without white magic or some other basic ability/spell. The loot drops are mostly random, so you can never be sure what abilities to count on as you progress through the game.

i liked it,the game tells you way too much leaving very little to think and/or guess and also making it the easiest attorney game i've ever played,i think the worst case is when...

spoiler (click to show/hide)
on the 2nd case, edgeworth discover blood on the floor of the cargo room which makes you as the player realize that maybe the victim died by falling into the cargo room, then someone falls and edgeworth is all like "I KNOW WHAT HAPPENED!" and you never get to piece that together...
[close]

but the rest of the game is still full of wacky character's,finger pointing and mystery to be solved.... the whole logic system is kinda stupid compared to the psycho locks or the magic bracelet of apollo "there is a gun here and the victim has a gun wound... THE VICTIM WAS SHOT WITH THIS GUN!" also there are quite a lot of returning character, and one section in particular might as well be pure fanservice

spoiler (click to show/hide)
you get to play as edgeworth back when he still was von karma disciple and you get to drag franziska little kid ass around,oh you also get to cross-examine the judge
[close]

the plot twist at the end is clever, but the ending is also over-wrought... edgeworth doesn't have enough proof to nail the final culprit so he's like "AHAHAHAHAH GOOD NIGHT GENTLEMAN" when someone arrives "WAITTTTTTTTTT I HAVE A NEW PROOF" but OH NOEZ! it's still not enough!
now you might be saying "so what? this shit is the norm for phoenix wright" but this goes on and on and on and on and on to the point it stops being dramatic and start to almost become comedic

whatever happened to playing 999? you guys left me all alone in that thread! >:(

You can sign up for the DC Universe Online beta with a free fileplanet account, either PS3 or PC.

PC beta is 13 gigs.  Hopefully the PS3 one is smaller. PS3 beta is 15 gigs.

Thanks, bro.  Gonna grab the PC version.  I'll be happy if the game is 1/2 as exciting as the CG trailer.

Game is downloading hella fast on the PC.  I wonder how it'd be on PSN which is almost always slow.

DC Online beta is pretty fun

it's like a a sloppier Spider-Man 2 with tedious objectives, but online and you can create your character. but character customization is pretty limited.

combat is more action like and moving around the world is quick even with the acrobat thing I chose where you can climb buildings and glide around (others are super fast running and flying).  If it didn't have a monthly fee, I would consider getting it.

Sprites are being redone for the PSP much like the FFI and II remakes for the PSP. Sounds a like new "game" is also being made to bridge the two titles together.

I don't own a Wii, so I'm really psyched to be able to play The After. FFIV is my favorite game of all time.

ehhhh... it's soooo old tho.  this would be cool as a $10 (MAYBE $15) downloadable game but paying at least $30 for an ancient game with a mediocre sequel that was originally designed for cellphones seems like a fucking joke.  though admittedly not as big a joke as releasing ff1&2 roms as full-priced games.

You're really not missing much with The After. I played through the Wii releases, it's extremely repetitive, backtrack-heavy, with a plot that feels more like an RPG Maker fanmade "sequel" than an actual FF, and with an insane random encounter rate. It's actually pretty terrible, and I'm a huge fan of FF4 as well.

You guys actually like the FF1/2 PSP art style?

I'd take the SNES/GBA sprites over it any day.  The PSP art looks like fanmade sprite work.  I really dislike it and it's why I never touched either PSP version and will pass on this.  I love the GBA/SNES sprites.  Very stylish and nostalgic.

I don't care for FF4 much either. The SNES version was the first RPG I ever played, so I had fond memories of it until I played the DS remake. Then I realized the game just isn't that great.
