Matsuno is kinda overrated imo, dunno if he will really "improve" anything

He's apparently going to be working on small "compact" titles for kids. Sounds like the dude really can't handle big projects anymore.

It's very clear now that whatever exactly happened with FF12, Matsuno never wants to work on anything of its size and/or importance again.

So Matsuno's pulling a Jaffe? I was never into his work but it's always sad to see somebody who makes cool niche stuff hang it up in favor of mediocrity.

If anyone knows what the Razer Onza is (potentially the first quality 3rd party 360 controller, unfortunately, wired) I finally got mine in the mail today and just played with a tiny bit.  It's pretty alright.  It's super comfortable, the face buttons are super great, and the added shoulder button is cool.  But the analog sticks, while better, are awkward to click in.  The d-pad surprisingly sucks more than the original 360 one.  The triggers take some getting used to; they are further back and have more range, but they're less sensitive, so you barely need to touch them for them to press down all the way.

I'll buy one again if it is wireless

oh, and the buttons light up and I don't like that.  I don't get the purpose.  I've been using that new grey sterile 360 pad, and now I'm holding a christmas tree.

a few more random things:
analog sticks are raised slightly higher than the 360 ones and have more range.

start and select buttons are on the bottom of the controller, which is weird considering how much back is used in games.  You can reassign it to the second bumper for Bad Company 2, but I still don't get the point.  They're even sunk in and harder to press than the existing 360 ones, and they kept the guide button in the middle.

I picked up one myself. It's interesting. I don't know if I like the triggers. They seem so long compared to the default 360 ones. Especially for shooter games where a shorter trigger would seem more useful. I really like the face buttons. Super sensitive. I like the extra mappable buttons on the shoulder but they feel a little plasticky for my tastes. The tension wheel for the analog sticks is cool also although it doesn't really help you understand how far you can turn them. I didn't realize how much you could turn them at first because I was scared I was gonna break the wheel.

Yeah, because they're going to spend millions of dollars (that they would probably lose) just because a bunch of internet people make a commotion?

Nintendo runs their company like a business.

It is true that NOA is the bottleneck here, since NOJ funded development and released the games in Japan already. But I really don't care. If the games get released somewhere in language I understands, that's great. If not? Oh well, Nintendo has long-since lost me as a loyal customer so I'm content to take my money elsewhere.

I've never actually tried it, but I'll do it for the achievement once it comes out. I don't think it will take as long to complete as some of the more ridiculous trials in SF4/SSF4 though... or at least I hope it won't take as long.

I can do it and I am not especially good at parrying.  It's just a rhythm thing and it's pretty steady - you'll probably get it on the third or fourth try (since you're not in the hot seat at a major in a clutch scenario with thousands of people screaming behind you).

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong, it's definitely worthy of all the attention it's recieved.

It is pretty difficult to catch it in real time.  Wong wouldn't have thrown it out there like that if it was free.  I could probably count on one hand the number of times I've fully parried Chun's SA2 in a match in roughly a decade of playing it regularly.  That shit comes out like lightning and is usually cancelled from a fireball for extra bullshit to parry -- which Wong didn't do, presumably because it telegraphs the super a bit (not that it mattered).

I've struggled to adjust to this new controller so its hard to recommend. I play a good deal of blacks ops and I noticed my play suffered when I used the onza. Maybe its just because it takes some time to get use to any new controller but I found my accuracy suffered and I think this is a direct result of how long the triggers are. Also the controller makes a bunch of weird noises on my turtle beach headsets that I can't hear but other people in my party can. Like I said maybe its just an adjustment period but I find it kind of hard to recommend them at this stage.

I think I just prefer the default 360 controller with fps freeks on them.

Triggers never got better or comfortable after all this time using them, personaly.  I primarily use the onza as my pc controller, and even in games like Mafia 2 the triggers don't feel as good.  I think there is a good foundation and I'll be interested in a revised version of the controller.  Though, the extra shoulder buttons and mechanical face buttons are the two biggest improvements.  Going back between my Onza on PC and 360 pad on xbox360, it's hard to say a lot is actually better about the controller, just different.

It's pretty amazing how I can entirely get my fill of JRPGs without running into that moe shit.  Oh well, I guess Etrian Odyssey.  But aside from that?  There were a ton of crappy wacky jappy role playing games *then*, too.  They just didn't get translated and the internet was in its infancy so nobody knew about them.  The key, I think, is that if you don't like moe, don't buy moe games.  If you're going out and buying every Nippon Ichi Soft game, you only have yourself to blame.
